What's interesting is that the reasons for adding football are different and are as diverse as for how each school is committed to having football as an athletic program mainstay. However, the concentration of these new programs are in the South and Midwest.

That was an interesting article. I'd also like to see one about which schools dropped the sport. As you noted, the South and the Midwest have seen the biggest gains. The Northeast and Far West seem to have the most drops.

Whats interesting to me, is to see the number of small bible schools starting to bring/add FB.

I played for a school that ran the coach out with the intent of that finishing off the FB program (this was 13 years ago). The school president was a huge FB fan, and a family friend. Hired a new coach and revived the program in 3 years. They are now a competitive program, with a nice field turf field that supports not only the FB team but both Soccer teams. The FB team has between 60 and 70 kids out each year consistently, my freshman year we dressed 24 3 times. They have garnered local intrest not only in the FB program but in the school as well. I think that many are seeing this as a ministry opportunity and are willing to pay that price, or pass the price along to the students that are attending their school.
