Montana, upon receiving the #2 seed, was placed in the bottom half of the bracket for the first time since 1995.
That broke a streak of 10 straight playoff appearances in the top half of the bracket (where the #1 and #4 seeds are) for the Grizzlies.

This was mostly based on memory, but I looked a couple things up.
These are the seeds each year since 1995 (when Montana was #6, I believe):
1996: #1
1997: #9
1998: #13
1999: #8
2000: #1
2001: #1
2002: Unseeded, next to #1
2003: Unseeded, next to #4
2004: Unseeded, next to #4
2005: Unseeded, next to #4
2006: #2
