Another in a long line of Bison standouts from the Rushmore State, #44 Preston Evans was a team captain of the 2011 Div. I National Champion Bison.
Evans led the Herd in tackles in 2010 with 95 total stops and was second on the team in 2011, totaling 88. He was named College Sports Journal FCS Playoff MVP after leading the Bison to their first national championship at the Division I level. At the center of the NDSU defense, Evans had 30 tackles during the four-game playoff run, including nine in the 17-6 championship-game win over Sam Houston State. He had 10 tackles in a second-round, 26-14 win over James Madison.

44.*Preston Evans came to NDSU in the fall of 2008 and was one of the recruits for Craig Bohl that started the turnaround. Evans was a coup for NDSU out of Sioux Falls and was inserted into the lineup as a true freshman out of necessity at Northern Iowa and never left. He became a playmaker over his time with the Bison, culminating by being named the FCS playoff MVP in 2011 by the College Sports Journal. Evans was tremendous during the playoff run, including an interception against Lehigh and countless big tackles against Georgia Southern. Evans was one of the players that started the culture change at NDSU, he led the team in tackles in 2010 and started this current trend of winning at North Dakota State.
37 days until the North Dakota State University Bison go to Missoula and beats the University of Montana.
