Assistant Coach (DE) Tom Howe (Drake 2004)
Tom Howe is in his second season at SFA and will handle the responsibility for the Lumberjack defensive ends.
Howe comes to Nacogdoches having spent two seasons on the staff at Central Oklahoma. While in Edmond, Howe oversaw the Broncos linebackers while also serving as UCO's special teams coordinator.
Prior to his time at Central Oklahoma, Howe spent one season at MIAA rival Missouri Southern, working with the Lions' defensive line. During his time in Joplin, MSSU's defensive unit broke the program's single-season sack record with 33, including setting a new single-game mark with nine against Southwest Baptist.
In 2010, Howe served as the outside linebackers and defensive line coach at Minnesota-Duluth, helping guide the Bulldogs to a 15-0 record and the NCAA Division II national title. UMD led the nation in fewest points allowed while ranking among the national leaders in three other defensive categories.
Howe spent three seasons at Iowa State (2007-09), assisting with the Cyclones' offensive line under former SFA head coach Robert McFarland. He began his coaching career at 2004 as an assistant coach at Clinton (Iowa) High School, his alma mater, before serving as a graduate assistant at Minot State (2005) and Drake (2006), his collegiate alma mater.
Howe was a three-year letterwinner at Drake on the defensive line, earning second team All-Pioneer Conference honors in 2002. He earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education in 2004 before attaining his master's degree from Iowa State. He is married to the former Kara DeShaw.

59. This is an easy one to feature on the countdown, as the spotlight will be bright on the man that wears number 59, Joe Haeg. Haeg is coming off a brilliant junior season, where he was named an All-American at left tackle in his first year at the spot. Haeg moved from right tackle, a position he started his first two years at and was tremendous there. Haeg has only missed one game in his college career, that was week two in 2013 against Ferris State. Haeg is the new shining example of NDSU's walk-on program, a fact I focused on back in April, which you can watch here. (http://www.wday.com/sports/3713205-beyond-game-walking-ndsus-standout-program) Haeg is also shooting up NFL scouts boards this offseason, he's been featured as one of the top 100 NFL draft picks. NDSU just had a third round NFL draft pick in Billy Turner in 2014, I imagine Haeg could be there or even higher in 2016.
Joes was named the College Sporting News Offensive Lineman of the Year for 2014.
