Assistant Coach (TE)/Co-Special Teams Coordinator: Jeremy Hammock (Louisiana-Monroe, 2006)

Jeremy Hammock is in his second season on the SFA coaching staff, handling responsibilities with the Lumberjacks' tight ends as well as serving as SFA's co-special teams coordinator.

Hammock comes to Nacogdoches with coach Conque from Central Arkansas where he spent the past three seasons as the Bears' running backs coach.

Before joining the UCA staff, Hammock spent two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe, his alma mater, working as a graduate assistant from 2009-10 in charge of the Warhawks offensive line.

Hammock spent two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College, serving as the director of football operations while coaching both the wide receivers and tight ends.

A four-year letterwinner at Louisiana-Monroe, Hammock was a two-year starter at tight end and helped lead the Warhawks to the Sun Belt championship in 2005. He earned his degree in general studies from ULM in 2006.

Gabe Luvara entered his first season with the University at Albany in 2014 as the tight ends coach.
Luvara came to UAlbany after four seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Frostburg State University football program. Under his direction, the Bobcats made huge strides on the offensive side of the ball, improving over 130 yards per game from his first season to his second, averaging 376 yards per game and 32 minutes of possession per game. In addition, the 2011 Bobcats threw for 2,234 yards, the fourth most yards in a season in school history, tossed 15 touchdowns, fifth best in school history, and ran for 1,528 yards, the most since 2002.
Prior to Frostburg State, Luvara spent three seasons as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Ithaca College. While with the Bombers, Luvara helped the team to two NCAA Playoff appearances and a 24-8 overall record. His offenses ranked in the top 30 in the nation in total offense (26th in 2007 and 25th in 2008), scoring offense (20th in 2008), pass efficiency (29th in 2008), turnover margin (24th in 2009) and fewest turnovers (8th in 2007).
In 2008, Luvara's offensive line was selected by the Empire 8 as the conference's player of the week, marking it the first time in the league's history that a weekly award was given to a unit and not a individual player. A total of 18 offensive players were named to the Empire 8 all-conference teams under Coach Luvara's leadership.
Prior to spending 2005-2007 at Juniata College, Luvara was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Duquesne. Alongside Head Coach Greg Gattuso, he helped the Dukes to the 2004 MAAC Title and a 2003 IAA Mid-Major National Championship.
From 2002-03, Luvara served as a graduate assistant for the University of Louisville, handling scouting reports, running scout teams and assisting the offensive staff. The Cardinals posted 16 wins and a pair of GMAC Bowl appearances during his tenure.
Luvara, a 2001 graduate of Indiana (Pa.), was a four-year member and All-PSAC center for the team and helped IUP to three NCAA Playoff appearances from 1999-2001. He earned his M.S. in Exercise Science in 2008 from the California University of Pennsylvania.

Jim Sweeney, a 16-season veteran of the NFL, will serve as UAlbany’s offensive line coach in 2015. Sweeney was a four-year standout on the offensive line at Pitt (1980-84) where he earned a B.S. in sociology and administrative justice. A second round pick in the 1984 draft, Sweeney was named to the All-NFL Rookie Team after his first season with the New York Jets. Playing 11 seasons with the Jets with 158 consecutive starts, Sweeney was named to the All-Time Four Decades Team and is still referenced as one of the most consistent centers in franchise history. Sweeney also played one season with the Seattle Seahawks and closed his career with four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
From 2000 to 2002, Sweeney was a member of Gattuso’s staff at Duquesne where he coached the offensive line that helped produce two 1,000-yard running backs in a pass-oriented offense. Sweeney then went on to coach eight seasons at the high school level in Pennsylvania.
In the summer of 2010, Sweeney served at the offensive line stand-in coach for Russ Grimm and the Arizona Cardinals before participating in the NFLP/NCAA Coaching Internship Program at Frostburg State University in 2011. Sweeney comes to UAlbany after spending last season as an offensive line consultant for the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League.
“Jim is a life-long friend and he’s coached for me,” said Gattuso. “I think his 16 years in the NFL has made him a technical whizz as an offensive line coach, and he will be key in recruiting. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever been around.”
