Hmm, does this player have a point?

They should compare it to the NHL. Those guys get paid pennies compared to both the NFL/ NBA and they are at just as much risk for injury.

My biggest take away was his complaint about the nfl minimum salary. This is huge, since nfl contracts aren't guaranteed.

The biggest take away for me is that there are what 12 players on an NBA roster? So the economy of scale is different...

Also, the NBA plays exponentially more games...

He needs to STFU and sit down.

Are they though? Not uncommon for NHL guys to play forever it seems like.

Agreed, don't really see how the sports are even close to be able to make this comparison.

I suppose the easiest thing to look at would be average career in the sports just to get a crude idea.

I think I'm going to start complaining about the salary inequity between us average working folk and NBA players. Why not? Everybody else is complaining about "salary inequity" in the hopes of getting a handout.

This will be Fast food employees next strike; "We should be paid as much as NBA players are!"

I'm not a doctor, and I also haven't looked up injury statistics so I am just speaking from observation here.

The reason I said at much of a risk for injury is because any professional athlete especially one racing around ice and getting smashed into/ whatever else being done to them are at a very high risk to be injured. That as well as every athlete is still breaking there body down faster than the average person is. I am sure if you compare most former athletes at 40 years old to that of the average 40 year old, you will find the abuse put on their bodies has aged them much faster.
