Brett McMakin burst onto the Missouri Valley Football Conference scene during his first career start his freshman season against Illinois State, finishing with six tackles and sack. The linebacker/defensive line hybrid followed his first start with a then career-high nine tackles and another sack against ninth-ranked Youngstown State.
