I don't like to make predictions but I think we'll see a repeat of last year. Sam returns a lot and we're loaded on defense. My guess is we'll see them early in the playoffs again.

As for individuals on our team ... defensively, I'd say take your pick, though CB Harlan Miller will get the most attention. Offensively, I'd say our running back position (by committee) will be a strength, plus the development of QB D'Shaie Landor who had a great spring. Josh Dakin has been a mainstay on special teams since his freshman year, plus we'll have Xavier Roberson back healthy to return kicks.

I have no clue who will be offensive and defensive player's of the year ... those things tend to take on lives of their own as the season progresses.

Houston Baptist is a good candidate for cellar dweller though I expect them to be much improved.

I don't like to speculate on the future of coaches.

I had a hard choice between SAM and SELA for the champion but I think the Kats edge them.
(Yes, I want my Bears to win it but I don't see much of a difference in defense so far in Spring. However if our run game is finally here it might reduce the time our defense is on the field. )
I picked Eche as DPOY because watching him last year he had played at such fast speeds. He might flop this year for all I know but its his senior season I believe so it should be a good one.

I know its difficult to predict so early but that's what makes it so fun.

We don't play Sam this year, unless we meet in playoffs - which I think will happen again, based on past history.

Sooooo.....if Dave Campbell is the "BIBLE of Texas FB," seems like that would make the Texas teams like the tribes of Israel and the out-of-state schools like Israel's neighbors....Wonder Who would be the Philistines of the SLC? The Sodomites?

Dave Campbell grades various position groups for each of the Texas teams. Interestingly, he assigns ACU higher overall grades than any of the Texas schools. One of the posters on the ACU board noted that ACU is the only school assigned 4 A's (QB, RB, ST, LB), and has an overall gpa .335 ahead of any of the Texas schools. Yet, when he predicts order of finish, he picks ACU behind both Sam Houston and SFA.

I agree with his predicted order of finish. I just find it curious that rank is not connected to his assessment of each team's strengths.

Historically ACU has always given SFA fits when it comes to football, so it should be interesting.

ACU has won 5 of the last 7 meetings in the series, that ended after the 1985 season, as SFA made the transition to Div.I-AA.

The two programs met for one brief reunion in 1999.

There have been some good games in the series that ACU now leads 9-6. SFA has only won twice in Abilene with 7 attempts.

2014- ACU:37 SFA:35
1999- SFA:51 ACU:34
1985- ACU:22 SFA:21
1984- SFA:37 ACU:21
1983- ACU:24 SFA:10
1982- ACU:24 SFA:17

1979- SFA:27 ACU:21
1978- SFA:28 ACU:23
1977- ACU:35 SFA:21
1976- ACU:41 SFA:14
1975- ACU:24 SFA:3
