Definitely the biggest surprise of the year. That and the fact that the Falcons have fallen to 5-5.

I hope they make the sixth seed and upset the third seed so that my Bears can have two weeks off before the NFC Championship game.

Yeah, what's up with that, the suits worn by those two coaches this weekend? Were they honoring Tom Landry or something? lol

i think the suit is nice - i think it makes the coaches look classy. i hate how coaches like Belichick look like slobs out on the field with a big baggy sweatshirt and warm-up pants.

Oh I agree, it did look pretty cool. But as to my question prior, do you know if there was a specific reason those two coaches wore the suits?

i think they just wanted to. i'm pretty sure it started with Nolan. they had to jump through all kinds of hoops though just to get the NFL to "let" them wear suits on the sidelines...and only for TWO games. i think that all coaches should wear suits - or at least something other than sweats and sneakers. i think they command so much more respect when they look like they're in control.

found this - Nolan first broached the idea of wearing a suit and tie during games shortly after he was hired by the 49ers in 2005. He believes the ensemble will project an image of authority while also honoring his father, Dick, the 49ers' coach from 1968-75, and legendary coaches such as Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi. I don't think Billichek (sp?) has any problem commanding respect or looking like he has control...;) But then again, winning 3 Super Bowls in such a short span will do that for you.

i don't doubt that he doesn't have control of his team. i'm just saying he looks like a slob.

I hate wearing suits (and ties) with a passion. I only wear them to funerals and weddings. Perhaps some of the NFL coaches feel the same way. This is football we're talking about, not ballroom dancing.

I think he was also wearing a suit because the halftime ceremony was in celebration of Jerry Rice's official retirement from professional football and the 49ers. However, I too think he should continue wearing a suit!

You had me till your second sentence. I don't even wear them to funerals and weddings! LOL A jacket maybe, a tie? Never!! I think the last time I wore one was in a job interview five years ago.

Back to the 9ers, I can't believe the Iggles whooped them this season! Yes, it was early in the year, I know. How quick a season can turn in sports. Huh.
