Good. It made no sense for the women to have a 30 second shot and the men to have a 35 second shot.

There was a time when the women could only dribble twice before they had to pass the ball. Could never understand that one also.:D

The second year that I taught I was in a small Iowa school. I was the boys coach and both teams were really good. They had a guard who was one of the top defenders in the state- but she got no college offers because of the six on six (three on three halfcourt) game and she never got a chance to shoot.

The 45 worked for a while but there are SO many teams now just dancing around for 25 seconds and going for it in the last 10. That makes for a very boring game.

In the NIT, the NCAA tested the 30 sec shot clock and a 4 ft (rather than 3 ft) arch for no charge. It did speed up the game for the SDSU/CSU, and likewise the Vandy/SDSU game. Watching both games, I thought that both changes would be beneficial.

This headlines a list of the changes to be approved by the NCAA Rules Committee:

(also includes less timeouts during 2nd half)

I hope that they go to four quarters instead of two halves. They have the media timeouts anyway, it won't slow the game down. Plus you bring back two more opportunities for last second shots. Try to standardized the rules between high school, college, pro and international rules if you can.

I'm not bothered by the number of stoppages, but rather by the length of stoppages.
If the ball goes out of bounds, give it to a player to throw back inbounds. Don't stop, hold the ball, wait for everyone to get ready and then hand the ball to the player.

30 second shot clock, wider arc and fewer timeouts are approved.
