If USC beats Notre Dame, they'll move up to #2. They are currently a hair behind Michigan.

Really? Wow, I was hoping they would still be #2, but didn't think it would happen.

Duh! Silly me, I forgot about USC-N.Dame. Michigan folks will be major Irish fans for one day and one day only.

I think the only chance Michigan has to get the rematch is if either USC or Florida lose at least one game. USC is in the best position. I think if the Trojans are in if the beat Notre Dame and UCLA. But if USC stumbles I think Florida would move ahead of Michigan by beating Florida State to end the regular season then Arkansas in the SEC championship game. Actually, Arkansas might not be out of the picture either because it's a one loss team with the possibly the best combination of two opponents coming up: LSU to end the regular season then Florida in the SEC championship game.

A hair? They're way behind Michigan in the BCS and even if they beat USC they won't jump Michigan.
Keep dreaming ND fans but I'm rooting for you Sat

They lost by three points, partly because of a very questionable call at the end of the game, at Ohio State. Michigan is the better team and will prove it on a neutral field.
Now that Rutgers has gone down I think this is the right call.

hows this for rematch if ND beats USC and Michigan remains #2 The Rose Bowl would have the first at large pick and would definatly choose ND so we also have a ND/USC rematch

Or if USC runs the table and ends up in Glendale you might see a Michigan-ND rematch

unlikely, the rose would get to pick one team just because they lose both auto picks to the game dont mean they get to choose 2 new teams before anyone else chooses. They would take Michigan and ND would be the next team taken off the board to another bowl.

Michigan will likely fall to #4 in the BCS behind USC (they will beat ND and UCLA) and the winner of the SEC championship game. :twocents:
OSU and USC for all the marbles...

From ESPN
If the Rose Bowl loses both its Pac-10 champ (USC) and Big Ten champ (Ohio State) to the championship game, it will have the first two selections among the remaining BCS at-large pool.
A Michigan-Notre Dame rematch in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 1 would then be possible. The Wolverines beat the Fighting Irish 47-21 in September at South Bend, Ind.

Michigan, and USC, imo, are clearly the two best teams out there. I don't think Florida, ND, or Arkansas would be able to keep a game versus OSU close. At all.
I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, but I also wouldn't mind if USC got a shot against OSU.

A rematch probably would be good for BCS football in the long run. With a "National Championship" game played as a rematch between two teams from the same conference, there would be a louder public outcry for a playoff system. My guess is it would be a four team playoff with the semifinals played with traditional bowl games and a championship game later. I don't foresee a I-AA/CS-type series any time soon.

well - OSU beat Michigan - so its not "clear" that Michigan is better...because they lost. i really don't want to see USC in the title game AGAIN - mainly because i'm just tired of them and Pete Carroll. I think if Florida runs the table then OSU should either play Florida or rematch with Michigan. i don't WANT to see a rematch [with Michigan] but i'd rather see that than see USC play again...
