Outside of Ricky Santos, I'm of the opinion that no QB has had a better year in I-AA than Jason Murrietta.

I am left to wonder what we would be saying about Jason right now if he had been as good in his middle two seasons as he was in the bookends. He is a great player, that is for sure! He doesn't quit and makes things happen for that offense!

Unfortunately for Jason Murietta, I'd have to rank him right up there as the biggest waste of talent EVER in the I-AA ranks. A phenomenal QB whose talent was absolutely wasted at NAU. As much as I've sung his praises, he would have brought half-a dozen schools to the title game....just NO talent around him at NAU.

He had talent his freshman and Senior years - and look at the results.

The real shame is NAU had to schedule to I-A games this year. If they had been I-AA games, NAU could have been 8-3 and playoff bound.

Alex Watson went over 1000 yards receiving for the season against UNC and Alex Henderson their RS-FR running back became the first freshman running back to rush for over 1000 yards.

NAU's 4 year conference record with Jason at QB is 14-15, which means he is 14-7 against teams not from Montana. A couple of wins there, and he would have gotten more recognition.
