Personally, I think Coastal is already in, even with a loss. I just don't see which of the teams you have below them would have a better resume than a team that would be 8-3 (all D-I games) with wins over Furman, Wofford, and South Carolina State.

Technically yes, but they got blown out in several of their key games: 28-7 to Maine, 35-0 to UMass, and 38-3 to JMU. Towson hasn't proved to be competitive against the playoff-caliber teams in its conference.

PSU's best I-AA win is Northern Arizona (to go with its season-opening win over New Mexico). Blowout losses to Cal and Oregon tell me absolutely nothing about how good a I-AA team PSU is, since I would expect every I-AA team to get blown out by Cal and Oregon. So I don't see why so many people count those losses in PSU's favor. IMHO, a 7-4 UNI, even with the early D-II loss, will have offered much more evidence that it can beat playoff-caliber I-AA teams. That's why I would take them over PSU. Apparently, though, that puts me in the minority, and it seems likely that PSU will get the bid regardless of what the Panthers do today.

I agree with most of what you say, but the Panthers have their work cut out for them today against Illinois State.

UNI also has bad losses at home (WIU and UND[who is a good DII school- but the committee won't like it)
