UC Davis (7th seed) plays Stanford (2nd seed) at Maples Pavilion (Stanford) Tuesday night at 8 pm PST in the NIT. UC Davis was the Big West Conference champion and led D1 all year in 3 point shooting. UC Davis went from last place in the conference to first place in one year.

Prior to last night's game, the last team to play on their home floor in an NCAA game was also Dayton - losing in 1985 as a #9 seed to #8 Villanova who rolled all the way to the championship.

NDSU played really well but Gonzaga kept hitting dagger shots every time the Bison cut it to 6 or so points. Warner for NDSU was extremely impressive. He looked like Hakeem the Dream out there in the second half. But, the 4 point foul on Pangos really hurt....

I thought it was a better showing than I expected. New coach, pretty young team with a short rotation. The future is pretty bright.

It was a solid showing against a great team. Dex came to play, he may look like a TE but he gets it done on the basketball court. The Bison had a rough patch in the first half that really hurt them, was really impressed with the effort in the second half.
NDSU was a team that was getting crushed by Texas and Iowa at the start of the year, really proud to watch how far they have come.

I was just hoping that NDSU could keep it to the spread of 17 or so. Dexter Werner, redshirt freshman from Bismarck, played some impressive ball taking it at the bigger Gonzaga players. The telling Stat to me was that NDSU was outscored 24-5 on points off of turnovers.
I am extremely proud of the Alma Mater on how they hung with the 7th ranked team. I agree the future looks bright. Coach Richman did an outstanding job with a young team that was preseason #5 and all kinds of distractions of where to play, practice and lift weights and brought them to the NCAA tournament for a 2nd straight season.

UNI is about to fall to Louisville. This game is a bit surprising. UNI came out and tried to physically play with Louisville and it didn't work. Louisville got several easy baskets around the rim which opened up the 3 point line. I thought UNI would spread the court and try to execute the 'Cards to death.
I was really hoping the Panthers would make a run. I've followed their season since their 24 hours of bball game @ SFA. Wichita State at least keeps the national respect going for the MVC which will help the Panthers and everyone else in the league.
