According to the Boston Globe, part owner of the Boston Red Sox (Globe is owned by the New York Times which owns 17% of the Red Sox) The Sox are still interested in Clemens returning to Boston next season even if they are sucessful in signing Matsuzaka.
The Globe says Clemens will have to agree not leave between starts as he has done in Houston for one simple reason... Boston envisions him as their closer in 2007 which solves 2 problems, Boston's lack of a closer and Clemens need to sit the first 2 months so he's not burned out at seasons end.

Its being reported that the Sox have come to terms with JD Drew for 2 years 30 million. One would expect he will play Right Field. Now this either opens the exit gate for Coco Crisp or Manny Ramirez. Im guessing Crisp moving Wily Mo Pena to CF. Thats 3 OFs with 30 HR + power.

Can Pena play CF?
BTW- JD Drew is the most overpayed player in the MLB

CF is his best defensive position. He looked foolish in RF this season but looked comfdortable and good in CF, better then Crisp was.
This would make the most sense cause Jacoby Ellsbury the future in CF is expected to be ready in 2008, so in 08 they would presumably move Pena back to RF and hope that playing everyday in 07 makes him a better overall defender and move Drew to LF and finally send Manny on his way, then in 09 you move another of your young guys into LF if none are ready you can always resign Drew for a couple more years if hes playing well.

I don't blame them for it. If I were a Boston fan, I'd be very pleased with their moves right now.
