(ursus...feel free to slap me for directing peeps directly to a website, but I wouldn't want to steal the work he's done and its all there for anyone's review)

Yes, but nothing anyone else posts would have been so I figure if I make a "main thread" for the discussions I'll have less to move around on Friday. xlolx

Also, man I don't care if you are sending people to other FCS team boards and articles and so forth. You said specifically what the link is and and provided the link...not exactly what another around here has been doing with his skim links BS.

If Ellis Henderson is really back at 100% he's the best 'recruit' anybody is going to have.

3 QB's?

This is Ross' senior year, I guess they want options. Chance Thrasher is widely expected to be our next starter after Ross graduates - the staff is very high on him.

3 QB's?

You should see the Griz recruits. Seems like 5 QBs and 10 wide receivers. Ought to be very interesting to see what our new coach is going to produce come our game in August!

Truth. Those big high school stars get to college and play against competition at the FCS level and realize they aren't the next big thing like they were on their h.s. team. Demoralizing for some. Motivation for others. The best players I've seen have had servant attitudes. Work out smarter, study film longer, and create unity with their teams. Pure awesome.

Did not see this on here, but Matt Colburn from Dutch Fork HS (SC) is a 3 star RB that committed to Louisville back in June. Two days before signing day, Louisville (in Bobby Petrino fashion), pulled his scholarship offer.

It appears schools all over the East/Southeast put him on their radars, as he had effectively closed recruiting last summer. Reports are that he will decide between Wake Forest, Furman, Georgia Southern, and Marshall.

That would be a huge get for Furman if he ends up a Paladin. Should decide in the next week.

Watch out for Willie Fritz....

In an article today he listed Wake, Marshall, and GSU. Maybe Furman's off the table.

Several of his high school teammates are with Georgia Southern. Still, hard to pass up Wake Forest if you were going to play in the ACC anyway.

Montana kid named Kaufman from Glacier HS supposedly signing with Lehigh based on a post I saw on the Lehigh Forum. I am not aware of anyone from Montana playing football at Lehigh before. We had a great wrestler back in the early 1990s named Matt Ruppel who became a national champ, but I cannot recall a Monatanan on the gridiron. Any of you Big Sky people familiar with this kid?

Lots to like from Furman's 2014 Recruiting class… small (14) but very specific. Four offensive linemen, five defensive backs, two linebackers, two running backs, and a big time tight end. Expect to see this class expanded with a solid group of preferred walk-ons that include; QB, WR, DE. And what's not to like about a class when you get Deon Sanders.

Well, we did have one sprained forefinger and two paper cuts, one of them bad enough warrant a band-aid, during the signings. No, season ending stuff.......yet. :)

Hopefully, none of them do a "Will Briscoe" before they get here.

Zenner v2.0 < Zenner v1.0 by a factor of 1 Zenner.

According to Hegel, since Zenner v1.0 created lasting impact on the program, Zenner v2.0 will combine with the residual impact of v1.0 to create a more powerful Zenner Force. This "Force of Zenner" should, in and of itself, should propel SDSU past NDSU. If another Zenner (v3.0?) should appear, the unprecedented power unleashed upon the FCS would should make all further competition irrelevant. The final FCS football history will then be written by a historian by the last name of, you guessed it, Zenner.

In an article today he listed Wake, Marshall, and GSU. Maybe Furman's off the table.

Several of his high school teammates are with Georgia Southern. Still, hard to pass up Wake Forest if you were going to play in the ACC anyway.
Saw a Tweet where it's between us and Wake (visiting both this weekend). We got two of his teammates from Dutch Fork signed, so I like our chances. :)

Indiana State signed 25 in this class, including four transfers. The big get, I guess, is QB Zach Kline, transfer from Cal via Butte CC (both former homes of Aaron Rodgers). Out of HS, Kline was a four star prospect, ranked as the #2 pro-style QB, 44th best player in the Rivals 2010 rankings. As with all transfers, who knows how it'll actually work out, but if nothing else, competition for our QB spot should be good.

Here's the link to all the videos for our class, including highlights and coach comments on each player:

How are teams getting 30+ players? Are half of them destined for the practice squad for 4 years? Are non-performers having their schollies yanked? Do you just have a ****-ton of walk-ons on roster?

Not many FCS schools had a better day than Samford, IMO(no bias of course). I won't bore with lists, bios, videos, etc., but I will say that the Bulldogs signed 16 players. Twelve of those players are Rivals 2** and two are 3*** by at least one service. That totals 30 or so for our 16 players. Yeah, I've heard all the talk about stars don't mean anything, then the same fans will brag about them when their team has them. xnodx I do know that most all of our signees had FBS offers - OFFERS, not interest. Those schools included Maryland, Syracuse, Purdue, App state, GA Southern, and dozens of others.

I was told that NDSU looked at this kid who I had as a student. He ended up signing with USF (Sioux Falls) as a QB. I was honored to be a speaker for him this morning in front of the entire student body before he signed the paper.

Some schools clearly are listing walk-ons with their signing class. Coastal Carolina has a local kid from Williamsburg listed who I know is going as a preferred walk-on. Other schools list only scholarship recipients, such as W&M.

High school star ratings : college performance :: College players' draft stock : NFL performance

Some players perform up to expectations. Others far exceed expectations. Others do not meet expectations. It would be interesting to review some big data analyses to see what sorts of trends we can find. Which of the myriad variables can better help predict actual performance and results on the field.

Nice looking class snagged by Samford, though. Maybe Samford will meet NDSU in the playoffs in the coming years?

In our case we had 18 seniors on last year’s team. Two back up QB’s left . Some of those signed may have been given a partial scholarships . We signed 8 from the immediate Sacramento area, many more within a 75 mile radius of Sacramento. . Some local players might think it’s better to accept a partial and play locally in front of family and friends instead of taking a full scholarship elsewhere.

By the way we are now up to 32!

The Zenner Force is not optional. We are at its mercy. Your only option is to recruit a Crockett v2.0 to battle to the death.

Charleston Southern University Signing Day 2015

CSU Buccaneers Signing Day 2015 Central (http://csusports.com/sports/fball/2015-16/releases/20150204gd45l1)

Link includes comprehensive information (Photos, Quotes, and Press Conference Video)

Our coaches did an excellent job assembling a very talented class.

CSU Head Coach Jamey Chadwell on the Buccaneers' 2015 Signing Class:
"Obviously we're excited about it, and the impact those young men are going to have when they get on our campus. They're going to fill some needs we have. The great thing is that all of them are very competitive and came here for the reasons that we want them to come here for, to have a chance to compete for a championship. We feel like they're going to come in and really push our guys that are here currently to get better. That's what you want. When you go out recruiting, you want to get guys that are better and will push your team to go beyond where you're at. I'm excited about their potential. We're happy about who we've brought in."

On mid-year additions:
"We lost, specifically, some guys on the defensive side of the ball so being able to get some mid-year guys was big. Blake Wilson – the linebacker – and Gerald Turner – the d-linemen. Those were areas that were a big concern so to be able to get them was big. I think you're going to see some of those young d-linemen come in and provide some depth for us quickly because that's a major need area."

On eight signees from South Carolina:
"That's the third year in a row we've had at least six players out of the state of South Carolina. I think that shows, one, coaches in the state are recognizing if they're sending their kids here, they're getting taken care of. Secondly, they're coming to a program that's doing well and winning and they're enjoying their time here. Now, when we go recruit, Charleston Southern has become a place that people say 'I've got to go visit that place.' That's good, and we have to continue that. I think as long as we continue to recruit the state, we're going to keep getting better and better. That allows us to go outside and fill our needs outside the state as well."

Here is the NCATAggies' article regarding the 2015 signees for #NCATFootball:

http://www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=209876167

Personally, with the moves that occurred for us this winter, I am fully expecting our offense to be even more explosive, with hardily any MEAC Secondary able to cover our guys consistently.

Here is also the goracers.com article about the 2015 signees for Murray State. #GoRacers!

http://goracers.com/news/2015/2/4/FB_0204152045.aspx

The Racers should still be a high-powered offense and the defense should show improved depth and performance to compete for the OVC title with EKU, Jax State and Tenn. State.

Those class ranking lists are total BS after 50 or so schools Chattown. Whos to say Idaho, umass, New Mexico state pull in better classes than any FCS school? Their records prove that they DONT year in and year out, but every year they show having signed more "stars". Its useless information.

All the rankings are essentially BS. Nobody can really say how a class of kids will turn out until 3 or 4 years down the road. The experts that make the rankings are flawed and half the time if a player gets an offer from a big school end up bumping up the evaluation of the player. Just because an SEC school made an offer, it doesn't make the kid a different or better player.

in addition to WCU's list that was posted earlier, it looks as though we have some preferred walk-ons that are high quality players. The matson boy was offered by ecu and charlotte, and the robinson boy is showed to have 4.41 speed. The matheson boy played for a team that went 16-0 and i believe he was named mvp of the championship game, and i think the walls boy has a good bloodline, in that his dad played for clemson. Good time to be a Catamount!!!

Towson's 2015 recruiting class, and hopefully a group that will help get this program pointed back in the right direction of last year's drop off coming off playing in the national title game in 2013-14. It is important for Towson that Kevin Olsen get his head on straight and play at a high level.

I see one 3-star. Any athlete who is added to the 247 site is rated a 2-star by default.

Recruiting rankings are fools gold at our level and they're even more pointless at your level. I guess you have to hang your hat on something if you're Chatty since you've never made a run in the FCS playoffs.

McNeese had a pretty good recruiting year. It's as solid as I've ever seen us have...

Two nice sized DT's, including one who started at Texas A&M in 2013...He had some off field issues and left the Aggies, approached us about transferring prior to 2014. Viator told him no, to resolve the off-field issues and then figure out what he wanted to do...Kinda like he did with The Honey Badger...

The kid took it upon himself to move to Lake Charles, got a job, worked out, enrolled on his own dime and then took care of some things and basically proved that he wanted to be in LC. I'm hearing that he turned down offers from conference mates. Great size, good quickness and speed and he had a great season as a true freshman at A&M....should be interesting to see what he does....

"Four of Western Carolina's incoming freshmen garnered ratings from Rivals.com including two, three-star and two, two-star recruits. Also, three of WCU's signees were ranked by 247Sports.com with one, three-star and two, two star players."

"I don't know about all of the stars," said Speir. "But one thing is for sure, we've got a lot of five-star families committed to Western Carolina University."

People of good character with good work ethic is what I like to see more than anything. It's fun to talk about some of the "stared" recruits, but that's about it. I think a better early indicator, as far as talent goes, might be what other schools are after a recruit. Even with that, good players get passed by every year.

Could you grade your recruiting class?

For our needs on defense and to replace our receivers I'd say it was a solid B because we brought in a few Comm. college players and since the LB position recruited several that were filled with talent. Of course it will be hard to tell if it was a good class for years to come but they filled the empty spots with experience.

Outside of your dome I'd expect NDSU to lose several games if you played our schedule.

Stop derailing though. Point is, Chatty's recruiting class is over rated and ranking recruiting classes at all (especially at the FCS level) is asinine.

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel head coach Mike Houston (http://citadelsports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=16) announced on Wednesday the addition of 17 players who have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Bulldog football program this year.

The recruiting class is slanted towards defense, with 12 players recruited on that side of the line of scrimmage and six being defensive linemen. Three newcomers are being brought in on offense including Jordan Black, who spent his first three seasons at Vidalia (Ga.) High School as a wide receiver before moving to quarterback and earning all-state honors from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The Citadel coaching staff focused on the Southeast for this year's class, with all 17 players hailing from the Carolinas, Georgia and Alabama. The Palmetto State leads the way with eight recruits including Lowcountry product Brady Cormier, a kicker from Beaufort High School. Seven come from Georgia and one each from Alabama and North Carolina, although Tar Heel native Kevin Graham attended high school in Georgia.

Four of the players from South Carolina (Tyler Davis, Rod Johnson, Aron Spann and Jordan Williams) were selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, and Khafari Buffalo and Jalon Williams were in the North-South All-Star Game.

The commitment from Tyler Jackson continues The Citadel's recruiting success in Mobile, Ala. The Bulldogs have brought in a player from that city in each of the last four classes, with Jackson joining former high school teammates James Riley (http://citadelsports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1329) and Cam Jackson (http://citadelsports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1305). Cam Mobley (http://citadelsports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1317), a senior on the 2014 team, is also from Mobile but attended a different high school.

Black is a nephew of Pittsburgh Steeler great and NFL Hall of Famer Mel Blount. Isaiah Hawkins, a defensive lineman, is a cousin of Erik Kynard Jr., who won a silver medal in the high jump at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

In addition to the players who signing NLIs with The Citadel, three other recruited student-athletes will also be attending The Military College of South Carolina. That group includes safety Donald Rutledge (Sumter/Crestwood), linebacker/long snapper Patrick Keefe (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee) and running back Donovan Ward (Columbia/Dreher).

Coach Mac always talks about getting the right "type" of kid. One who works hard, is committed to education, and comes from good values. Thats how you build a program. UNH still doesnt reel in "3 star" athletes, but we get to the playoffs every year, and schools that end up "at the top of lists in recruiting" generally dont...

Im all for clamoring over a kid that chose an FCS school over FBS offers, thats always awesome. But lets not pay any attention to Rivals team rankings when they put every single FCS school behind every single FBS school....Thats just garbage and not putting in any effort.

As others have stated, even a lot of the 5-star recruits dont make it.

Amen to this. Rivals doesn't list any recruit interest for W&M right now. Page yields "no results". Tribe signee Albert Funderburke gets no stars despite offers from Duke, Wake Forest, Northwestern, Furman and several other FCS and three consecutive 2,000 yard rushing seasons. Of the six Tribe alums who've made it to the NFL in the last six years none had any stars coming out of high school.

Outside of your dome I'd expect NDSU to lose several games if you played our schedule.

Stop derailing though. Point is, Chatty's recruiting class is over rated and ranking recruiting classes at all (especially at the FCS level) is asinine.

We are talking about the same App State team that went 6-2 in the Sun Belt after going 4-4 the year before in the SoCon? That App State? The team that lost to an FCS team at home?

What's cool is when you go undefeated in conference, and maybe for the season, you get to play for a national cham... oh, wait. Never mind.

The UNH HC is from the Saratoga, NY area not the Lehigh Valley.

I thought he hailed originally from around here. When UNH visited two years ago there was a nice article about him growing up around here and how he likes to come home to recruit. UNH always seems to have a couple kids on the roster from "the Valley" as we call it. I'll have to go back and see if I can find the article.

UNH always seems to have a couple kids on the roster from "the Valley" as we call it. I'll have to go back and see if I can find the article.

It wasnt coach Mac. UNH had a couple of coordinators that were from the Lehigh Valley. It was also a hot spot for a lot of UNH recruits over the past 15 years under coach Mac. We have seen recently them go across the country the last 3 years. Perhaps because of national exposure.

This is also the place where so many Lehigh Valley products have flourished over the past couple of decades; players like Jeff Pammer, Tim Cramsey, Joey Orlando, George Yasso and others.
"The kids from that area … whether it's been Freedom, Parkland or Central Catholic … that's been a hotbed for recruiting for us for a long time," McDonnell said. "Tim Cramsey [the former state championship-winning QB at CCHS now the offensive coordinator at Montana State] did a great job for us down there for years. Now, we've just got to stay the course down there.
"They're blue-collar, hard-nosed football people. That's why we want them."

Nineteen Sign to Further Their Football Careers at Cal Polyhttp://www.gopoly.com/sports/fball/2014-15/SigningDaySlide.png

Feb 04, 2015

OPENING REMARKS (http://www.gopoly.com/sports/fball/2014-15/videos/20150204-8asw4n74) | HIGHLIGHT VIDEO (http://www.gopoly.com/sports/fball/2014-15/videos/20150204-alwk3ncq) | Q&A WITH WALSH (http://www.gopoly.com/sports/fball/2014-15/videos/20150204-d53ogw6m)
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly has signed a total of 12 high school football players, four community college transfers and a trio of transfers from four-year schools to either the National Letter of Intent or Grant-in-Aid offer. The announcement was made Wednesday by seventh-year Mustang football coach Tim Walsh and Cal Poly director of athletics Don Oberhelman at Mother's Tavern on Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo.

The class of recruits includes two defensive linemen, a pair of linebackers, five defensive backs, four running backs, two running backs, three offensive linemen and one quarterback.

"This is always an exciting day for Cal Poly football and also for the young people who understand the significant aspects of signing with Cal Poly, giving then not only the opportunity to play football, but also to get a tremendous academic degree," said Walsh.

"Linebacker and the secondary were the focus of our recruiting because we felt we might be a little thin in those areas in a year or two," Walsh added. "We signed more transfers on the defensive side of the ball to address some immediate depth issues and we expect a couple of them to play immediately.

"On offense, we feel we have secured the H-Back position and the offensive line for the future," Walsh said. "We also signed a quarterback and two wide receivers that will really secure our skill positions on the offensive side of the ball."

The Regular Signing Period opened today and ends April 1.

Cal Poly football, presented by French Hospital Medical Center, posted a 7-5 mark in 2014, including a 5-3 record for a fifth-place tie with Northern Arizona in the 13-team Big Sky Conference. The Mustangs, who captured the championship in their first season in the league, are 17-7 in their first three years in the Big Sky.

The Mustangs, conference champions five times in the last 11 years, including four titles in the eight-year existence of the Great West Conference, earned their third NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoff berth in 2012.

The signees (listed by position):

Colin Goebel, OL, 6-5, 280

Furman landed one 3 star player in Reily Gessner, a 6'4 230 lbs TE. Gessner had something like a dozen or so offers, including FBS programs (notably, Georgia Tech).

Guy is a monster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tet_tEWu-nk

Riley is a very big pickup… heard he had 16 offers. Gives Furman interesting options at TE.
Also Aaquil Annoor was 2 star rivals and a 3 star 247: http://247sports.com/Player/Aaquil-Annoor-21956
