Which makes it all the more interesting. Not hating on Villanova but Vanderbilt is the better school by a decent margin. If you're offered a full ride to Richmond and Stanford/ND you go to one of the latter imo.

The Ivies are usually the ones stealing players from Vandy, Duke, Wake Forest, Rice, Northwestern, Cal etc...

Hasn't Vandy been on a Grant-in-aid plan for some time? I thought they did away with true athletic scholarships across the athletic department some time ago. Maybe this kid wasn't getting a full ride to Vandy. Otherwise, I agree, while Villanova is a good school, Vanderbilt is a great one.

Tribe just signed a RB who had offers from Duke, Wake Forest, and Northwestern.

VUHoops is SB Nation's Villanova athletics blog (they have blogs for hundreds of DI schools). While they primarily cover basketball hence the name, they do put out a sizable amount of content for their other sports, especially football.

UNH signed a guy that had an offer from Cal. Actually a few had FBS offers. A lot of these kids have FBS offers but are able to see that playing good FCS football is better than riding the bench for 3 years at FBS schools.
