Some major shifting in the polls as dual meets got underway the past two weeks and some significant upsets occurred. Iowa, for now, the unanimous #1, followed by Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio St, and Penn St., who dropped a 22-15 match last Sunday to the Buckeyes. Second five are: Virginia Tech, Cornell, Oklahoma St., Pitt and Lehigh. Yet, Lehigh beat the Panthers back in November, and has only gotten better. Key now, is to not "peak too soon" but keep improving. Two full months to go to Nationals. Mountain Hawks now have five wrestlers ranked in top 20, though only one in the top 5: Nate Brown, no 3 at 184. Parker (true freshman at 125) has now made an appearance at #20. Beckman (133) has slid to #12, Minotti (157) holding at #15, and Elliot Riddick (197) doing well at #15.
Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend with back to back home matches versus F&M (Saturday) and #7 Cornell (Sunday). For those in the Lehigh Valley, Coach Santoro will be at a "Ask the Coach" luncheon at Braveheart Tavern in Hellertown on Wednesday, January 21 at 12 noon. All welcome, no entry fee, just order off the menu.
