Paine College in Augusta, GA, was forced to suspend the program for at least two years while the school tries to get their accredation back and fix severe financial problems. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the team does not return. Or the school for that matter.

It looks like significant financial mismanagement from the school's previous administration.

So they are only honoring scholarships for the spring semester? UAB at least said they'd pick up the tab until they graduated or their eligibility expired.
It is pretty irresponsible to start up a sport as expensive as football if you aren't sure can pay for it. Given the overall financial picture of the school, it seems clear they should have known a football team was not financially possible.
They may go the way of Morris Brown if they don't get their act together.
