To turn college football into something resembling the WWF.
And they just can't stop patting themselves on the back. Corso sounds drunk.
i hope they stay away from FCS. The atmosphere and look in Frisco was college football. This looks like Super Bowl light.

What did you honestly expect? This is no different than the last couple of BCS title games imo. The only difference is there's another week of hype built up.
I will say I'm not a fan of Jerry World on TV. It might be awesome in person but it doesn't play well on TV. The title game should be at the Rose Bowl every year....

I never let myself forget that ESPN is owned by Disney. And who is better than inventing a show than Disney? I read an article about how the football itself is in play for less than a minute during every game. So on TV it can appear very boring. The guys producing it are production geniuses, so it turns into what we see here. All about production.

Vandy's coach sounds like a dope. They should kick him off the set at halftime.
Mullen and Riley present themselves well.

Mason really does come across as very simple minded. No wonder they lost by 30 to Temple this year....
On the flip side, I've always been a Spielman fan....

I tuned in because I am still interested in college football regardless how much of a show it may have become. Also so I can compare it to the FCS.
IMHO, the FCS is still better. Our championship game was 1 million times more exciting than what I just watched.

Once things become too much in favor of the dullards that normally don't care about football too mcuh and just want in for the show I guess it just isn't something I care about. I did watch about 5 minutes of it here and there during commercial breaks. Thought the way Oregon brands itself tonight was pretty stupid but that is the totality of my emotion over the game. I do wish sh both teams could have lost because of the fans of those two teams.

Spoken like somebody that has absolutely no musical talent.
On occasion a cover becomes more popular and well known than the original, such as Santana's version in 1970 of Peter Green's and Fleetwood Mac's 1968 song "Black Magic Woman" or Jimi Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower."[2] The Hendrix version, released six months after Dylan's original, became a Top 10 single in the UK in 1968 (US number 20) and was ranked 48th in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

It's a song, who ****ing cares? Singing the national anthem before something as insignificant as a sporting event is pretty absurd anyway.
We should sing "Everything is Awesome" from the Lego Movie. That would be much better.

Clearly a small faction does for some unknown reason (being sarcastic)
THE FIRST THING to remember is that it's a battle song.
The most memorable lines involve rockets and bombs, and the lesser-known verses conjure "the havoc of war" and "the gloom of the grave."
The second thing to remember? It's a taunt, a lyrical grenade chucked at a defeated opponent. "See that flag still flying, the one you tried to capture?" it famously asks the British. Then it answers: "Scoreboard."
That's why, in a country that loudly lauds actions on the battlefield and the playing field, "The Star-Spangled Banner" and American athletics have a nearly indissoluble marriage. Hatched during one war, institutionalized during another, this song has become so entrenched in our sports identity that it's almost impossible to think of one without the other.
Our nation honors war. Our nation loves sports. Our nation glorifies winning. Our national anthem strikes all three chords at the same time.

If you guys don't like FBS so much, I don't understand why you watch it or write about it. You seem like the little brother who is always getting one upped by his older brother who doesn't care about what the little brother does.
While this year's FCS final was great, you can't say the same about the past few championships. It's all about how the teams are on that individual day.
And who cares if it is a show. I'd rather a show than to have no hype going in to the game. While the FCS game was exciting, there was way too much of a break between the semis and finals so that nobody but diehards and fans of the teams remembered it. We even had people on here (or CS) joking that they didn't remember when the game was since there was such a long break.

I understand your point, but to me I think its a great thing to sing before sporting events. As a combat veteran, every time I hear it before any event whatsoever I am filled with pride over the fact that we are free because of what everyone in this country has sacrificed. A lot of countries can't do things like assemble and have events. Also how often do you get that many people together to share such a beautiful song?

It's interesting to note that the money from the TV contract pays over twice as much to the P5 conferences as it does to the FBS Jr. conferences.
