Knight pushes player's chin during timeout
LUBBOCK, Texas -- As Bob Knight moved one win closer to catching Dean Smith, his temper flared once again, when he used his hand to push a player's chin during a timeout, as if to make him look the coach in the eye.
With more than four minutes to go in Texas Tech's 86-74 victory over Gardner-Webb on Monday night, Red Raiders forward Michael Prince was called for a foul. During the ensuing timeout, Knight approached Prince, and as the player lowered his head, the coach made contact with his chin.
Knight gave a brief statement at the postgame news conference and then answered one question before exiting the room. The incident with Prince was never addressed.

Wow, he made the kid look him in the eye, what a crock. This is making a mountain out of a nothing.
Bob Knight should be commended for this. These are still kids, and they will learn respect from Knight if nothing else. You should look people in the eye when they are talking to you.

The player himself said it was no big deal. Everything Knight does is blown WAY out of proportion. I am glad he is going to break Dean Smith's record & the media will have to kiss his ass.

This is something you would never hear about if not for ESPN. They have lowered themselves over the years into tabloid journalism. If they can't find a good story they will make one up or exaggerate the circumstances.

Not only that, the kids parents were at the game and THEY said it was no big deal. Blackfordpu being reactionary to the reactionary media. :nono:

ESPNews spent like a half an hour on just this earlier today.. It's much ado about nothing... As someone said earlier ESPN has become tabloid journalism, thus the fascination with Terrell Owens, etc..xidiotx

While I'm no fan of Bob Knight and will be displeased when he breaks Dean Smith's record, this definitely was blown way out of proportion. Choking someone is one thing; making a guy look you in the eyes with a "love tap" is another.

Coach Knight reminds me of the best coaches I ever had growing up. A coach that you respect but can also scare the living s--t outta ya is often quite effective.

I agree.
But on the other hand, NCAA College B-Ball (as well as some other sports)has basically whored itself out to ESPN to promote it's game to epic proportions. So EXPECT ESPN to exaggerate stories, dig a little deeper than maybe other news outletw regarding situations like this.
And they have to report something like this! I mean jeesh, this coach has a history of placing his hands on players, a bad temper, etc etc. It's not like it's a first offense from a coach of North West Minnesota State (made that college up).
With ESPN you will get the good with the bad. The good, tv coverage out the whazzoo. The bad, tabloid journalism. Accept it or STFU. (not you specifically, but all the whiny biatches out there)

jesus christ, when the man is a top level university and starts throwing chairs and swearing then give him a hard time...but until then, leave him alone.
