I watched the first quarter of this game on ESPN and it looked like it was raining at Marshall that day.

Interesting, it's still surprising. We put 41k at Cajun field in a 6hr rain storm earlier this year.

Impressive (but not overly suprising) to beat out the lesser FBS leagues, but you chose to ignore:
SEC Championship Game : 73,526
ACC Championship Game: 64,808
B1G Championship Game: 60,229
There were eight championship games that weekend, with an average attendance of 43509.
A more telling statistic would have been to compare the SWAC Championship Game to the FCS Playoff attendance. THAT is where you can really show off - top three games only totalled 37,364.

It would be beyond silly to compare BCS schools that have budgets 20 times the entire SWAC conference and stadiums avg. 80k per game.
The more logical and sensible comparison, would be to compare games of the lower FBS tier schools, who's budget and student population is more closely inline.
As far as comparing the FCS playoffs attendance to the SWAC Championship game, it's a given that the SCG will trump those and really isn't a fair comparison.

So you are of the opinion that the Pac-12 and SWAC are comparable conferences? That PVAM has similar resources to USC? That TSoU has a student population closely inline with Stanford?

Nope....just found it interesting that they couldn't pull much more then we did.
Same as our tv ratings for the Bayou Classic, did pretty darn good considering who we went up against.

SWAC budgets are in line with CUSA, the MWC, and the MAC? You sure about that?
Unless the USA Today completely lacks credibility I see a lot of SWAC schools at the bottom of this list: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/schools/finances/
