Congrats on the win, guys. As I mentioned before, I have a lot of respect for the SLC, but you got to be real. You know there's absolutely no way you win that with Robertson playing. I don't think thats whining. I think that's saying, well really if the best player in the FCS was allowed to play over a guy who's only played garbage time - meaning mostly runs - we are putting up a lot more points. Our offense was extraordinarly one dimensional today, a lot of passes at feet, and we still came within 3. Dunno why Talley thought a FG was better than a TD especially since it would've led to OT meaning more kicks with that offense. Seemed like an obvious enough choice. I feel blessed to have even been in such a position.

Oh well. I really thought this was going to be our year. We got a tough road losing Livers, Sarnese, Monangai, Medley, P. Williams, Hall, Kowalski, Pettway, Harmon and Miles off the top of my head. That's some big contributions to make up for. Doubt we'll be as talented as this year. Hopefully Robertson works his senior year magic

Dont make excuses.. Polony played a great game.

No offense, but not having arguably the best player in FCS football is a huge loss. Chris Polony played his heart out, but it wasn't enough. He was 4/12 in the second half. John doesn't do that. John leads a game winning drive like he has numerous times before, but I doubt it would have come down to that. SHSU is a good team. One could argue that they don't have any business being in the final four, but that's where they are. Take your win and enjoy it, but don't act like SHSU got there without some luck. It just proves you don't know what you're talking about.

John Robertson is a considerably better player than Chris Polony. Villanova has a much better chance of winning if Robertson plays. Seriously.

The above isn't meant to take away from Sam Houston State - teams have injuries all the time, and many times teams win regardless of the injuries. Also, the Bearkats had to come on the road and play as a passing-oriented team in difficult win conditions. That was an excellent win for SHSU, and they did enough to earn the victory.

Luck? Are you effing serious?

Hey, who was injured in the 1997 playoffs?

Answer: nobody cares.

Robertson could have played well, or he could have played like he did against Richmond.

Next man up...or perhaps nova didn't have enough players who believed they'd be playing FBS by now.

It sucks but its definitely next man up, Liberty would not have even been in it, were it not for the BACKUP QB who then beat #1 CCU. If SHSU believes that kid #19 Robertson would not have made a DIFFERENCE they are LYING. Not to say they would have won but he DOES make some DIFFERENCE. You gotta play the hand you were dealt, some could say VU should escaped the week before from LU and did just enough to win, and today it caught up with them in that SHSU did just enough to win. Like I told my son its better to sometimes play on the road than to play at home, you start getting comfortable, an you don't always come out with that edge that you need to have when your playing in the confines of a home game, yes it easier, but your more FOCUSED sometimes on the road and some teams try and use that us against the world mentality. Either way good game SHSU and good season VU.

With all the whining about "if Robertson would have played ", i think it should be noted that SHSU could have very easily been without their starting QB yesterday because he had the flu every since Sam Houston had arrived on Thursday . Honestly im shocked he was able to play . RB Keshawn Hill and the PK Swimbergeh we both pulled out of the JSU game at halftime with flu symptoms.

Up here in south Canada, the flu gives us additional strength.

I was surprised at how easy it was for Sammy just to chuck it long, didn't realize the Nova DB would be so over matched.

Dont make excuses.. Polony played a great game.

Polony went 13-24 yesterday and threw at a 30% clip in the second half. Robertson has been throwing over 65% for the last two years to say nothing about being the best running QB in FCS. Polony played well in the first half, not so well in the second. Sam defense is not very stout, as you know. JR would have had a banner day.

Good luck at the Fargo dome. This was a nice win for you. Maybe we will get a rematch next year and sort this out. Robertson and just about our entire defense comes back next year and I'm sure KC will improve SHSU next year. Beat the Bison!

We have a SOLID group of receivers, All with great speed, and with his size, LaDaruis Brown would give an NFL corner head aches, more importantly they seem to get open on every play, and catch the balll, If the bisons corners AINT ready, could be a LOOOOONG day for them as well

Always good for a laugh to read your posts after a NOVA loss. Naturally, Cat fans are just whining when they complain about losing the Walter Payton award winner. He wouldn't have made ANY difference in a 3 point game. ONLY a Clucker would be trying to sell this.

On the mark as always. Talley called the special teams at Nova this year the worst in his 30 years at the school. That is what prevented an easier draw for the Cats in the playoffs as the probable No. 1 seed and was the difference between winning a share of the CAA title, a perfect regular season and maybe a national championship. There was a blocked punt, a missed extra point, the two missed field goals at the end and a truckload of penalties on special teams (including that roughing the kicker call on the final Sam Houston field goal that probably gave Villanova a longer field on its final drive).

The Nova DB's are not that good in 1 on 1 coverage at all, its just that their LB's are that good and that pressure makes up the difference, allowing them to play more zone than man

This is true, and exactly why it hurt us so much that the MVFC refs couldn't catch up to the game to recognize holding even when players were literally waving to the referee with their free hand to draw attention to how their other arm was hooked

I don't like these woulda coulda shoulda replies from my fellow Villanova fans any more than losing to KC Keeler. Congratulations Sam Houston State.
Even with Robertson I don't think we would have won. Polony played great. Our secondary and our special teams were a mess all year and the undisciplined play on Saturday would have done us in whoever was at QB.
It was still a fun year and I hope JR wins the Walter Payton tonight.

I hope he does too. For one his numbers are astounding and two he's not Vernon Adams. JR goes about his business the right way. Very respectful and what you would want to coach. Adams is a cocky thug and although talented and exciting i can't stand to watch him and his arrogant ass attitude. Could be the red turf but really think its the arrogant attitude.

I wouldn't call him a thug but he definitely is high on himself.

You're right. It's frustrating losing a guy like JR but the defense and ST are not championship quality. Would've lost @ NDSU even if we slipped by in this game. Nova was a field goal kicker and cornerback away from having the best Nova team ever. We have one more chance next year to ride the JR train to a championship. Hope Talley spends a lot of time this offseason recruiting a FG kicker.

Very true. I've seen Ceneus called the best corner in recent Nova history. That seems very questionable. He might be alright as a number 2 guy, but that really concerns me. He gets beat all the time even though the interceptions number is pretty good. I was hoping Rasaan Stewart was going to be a great CB, but it looks like he will be replacing Sarnese at safety in all likelihood.

Very bittersweet way to go out but it was a fitting end to this season. Special teams were not so special and the penalties were atrocious all season long. Congrats to SHSU, go beat the Bizzzon.
