Wofford's New Arena

Heard during their game today that Carolina Panther's owner, Jerry Richardson, is funding a new arena at Wofford....


Wofford alumnus and trustee Jerry Richardson ’59 provided the gift to fund the 92,000-square-foot facility that will include a 3,400-seat basketball arena and a 500-seat volleyball competition venue. The facility will replace Benjamin Johnson Arena, which will continue to be used as a first-rate facility for intramural and campus recreational activities.

The only downside to this is that I think I will lose my parking space for tailgating.
This is a big step up from when I started school and we played in a 60 year old field house which didn't meet junior high school standards. When the BenJo was built it was quite an improvement and considered a state of the art NAIA facility. It makes me feel old when a building opened while I was in school is now outdated.
