Payton, Buchanan, Rice Outlook- Nov 9th, 2014

Just a few notes to make before you read below. Vernon Adams was outstanding coming off an injury. It would not surprise me if he seals the Payton next week. I had to make tough decisions to drop some very good players on the Payton this week.

As for the Buchanan, somehow Hargrave and Harold are going underrated yet both may be the DEF POY in their conferences.

Fordham RB has pretty much guaranteed himself the Rice Award. I added Dranka and Johnson. Both of those players are going under the radar but having great seasons. Johnson is a very good DB for Southern. Dranka is a role player at UND but having a good year, very quietly I might add.

Vad Lee will make my Payton list when if he gets his completion percentage over 60 or has a monster game on the ground and in the air the next two weeks. If he had double digit rushing touchdowns like Bennett I would have made the exception for him this week

I almost put Brent Spikes on the Buchanan list. He's quietly one of the best safeties in FCS right now. That guy will hit you and makes big plays. His game against Incarnate Word (I know who that is LOL) was one for the ages. Hopefully he finishes real strong because I want to add him but he needs at least 2 more picks as a safety to get on the list.

Woodard has 10 sacks... He got 2 last night but had a couple more called back due to offensive penalty. I really wish coach Campbell had dropped that hideous 3-4 defense waaaaaaaay earlier this year. No DE can get sacks with being double teamed game after game. But to get 10 says hes a force to be reckoned with!

I don't always drop a player because of their numbers not being as good. It was more about someone else just having a monster game. He could have had 105 yards and a TD and he still would have dropped. He moved up this week more about Johnson having a bad day than anything. WR is very tough to finish in the top 3. He needs a 200 yard, 3 TD against a good defense to get in the top 3, IMO.

LOL well with SELA and Lamar coming up Spikes should see plenty of balls in the air to try and snag a few. I realize Johnson has had a good season but he was stoned last night (about the only positive of the game for McNeese). I really thought he was going to end up with negative yards.

I have Henderson over him but I can see someone going with Ross. I almost put Ross on but it was between adding him or adding Arias and Arias has been amazing. He has also faced a tougher schedule and has his team in the running for the Big Sky title in a year when nobody would have thought it.

I think Adam Drake from EIU should at least get the courtesy mention since A) he is leading the country in receiving yards B) not catching passes from Jimmy Garoppolo and C) not in Dino Babers' offensive scheme.

Yes I understand it's the OVC but there is a RB from EKU on there and it's not the most likely to be in the NFL award

Robertson has been pulled early in several games and we all know that the EWU QB has missed a lot of time. I may add Woodrum back to my top 20. He's definitely a tough name to leave off.

Coprich at Illinois State has been a model of consistency all year. 8 straight 100 yard games, 1302 yards, 17 TD's. I believe he's scored in all but one game this year. In a league with Zack Zenner (SDSU), David Johnson (UNI), Martin Ruiz (YSU), the MVFC has some nice RB's. I think this kid could easily be in the Top 5 at the end of the year.
