The term "fair weather fans" was invented for Ivy League football fans.
Haven't seen the attendance in New York yet.

Don't know the "official" count, but there were about 1,000 fans at Georgetown's MSF Stadium, and about 750 were on the visitor's side of the field cheering for Lehigh. Unbelievable.

a horrible showing at Bryant, today; only 964 fans showed up. The heavy rains truly kept almost everyone away.

Given the weather, that's more than I was expecting.
As I said before, I've given up any hope that Ivy fans will sit through lousy weather for a marquee game.

Or good weather, for that matter. Witness last week's Harvard-Princeton "crowd" of a bit over 12K.

Which also was the largest crowd for the Harvard-Princeton game in years.
I get that the H-P game sold out in your day. But those days are over. 12K is not a crowd to be apologizing for.

Good crowd.... hate that I had to work. I want to make all the games I can because next season I may be back overseas.

Pitiful showing for northwestern fans. Minus their band mcneese had more fans than the demons.

6,622 at Jack Coffey Field in The Bronx for Fordham-Colgate. Not a bad crowd considering the lousy weather. It rained pretty much continually throughout the afternoon and it was bone-chillingly cold up in the stands. The attendance was no doubt helped somewhat because this is Family Weekend at Fordham.
And I suspect that many ticket holders spent a good portion of game time warm and dry in the McGinley campus center. I noticed that it was really crowded when I walked over there at halftime.

Looked like Floren Varsity House was full in Hanover for the same reason.

Boy, are you a grump.
They never sold out Princeton-Harvard "in my day," or even in the 90s when I went to that game more regularly. But the crowds were larger. My point on this board has always been that Ivy attendance is a generational thing, not a weather thing. Bad weather just puts an exclamation point on it. The alumni who care about Ivy football are dying out.

It was a nasty weather day in New England yesterday....I did a high school playoff game for local cable TV and there weren't many fans due to the rain/wind.
I'm not saying Harvard-Dartmouth (or other games in the Northeast) would have sold out yesterday, but weather really kills attendance these days if it's pretty unpleasant....a nation of wimps sadly lol
