Sbu has a habit of playing not to lose when they have even the smallest lead. I'll feel better if the clock hits zero and we have more points, right now there is too much time!

Stony Brook 14 - UNH 0. Early 2nd Quarter. So far Stony Brook has passed the ball at will and UNH has 1 first down. The Stony Brook defense has been great so far.

is Stacey Bedell a UMass transfer? pretty sure that's the guy that decommitted from JMU at the ABSOLUTE last second in favor of UMass. i mean, i think it was actually ON signing day or something crazy.

UNH just scored on a 73-yard flea flicker with the running back making the pass. UNH misses the extra point, however. So it's UNH 21-Stony Brook 14

Stony Brook got 2 first downs then the QB fumbled and UNH recovered. Bummer.

A lot closer than I expected.

By the way, anyone know why the Stony Brook radio announcer calls our school Stony BROOK, with an accent on Brook? That's just weird. That's how people who have never heard of our school pronounce it.

Stony Brook just ran the ball 4 times in a row, including on 4th and 1, where UNH had Bedell buried but somehow he sneaked his way to a 1st down. 1st down Stony Brook at the UNH 36.

Make that 5 times in a row

Make that 6 times in a row. Only Stony Brook runs on 2nd and 8 while down a touchdown in the 4th quarter

Sbu special teams has to be one of the worst in the country. They need to fire the coach who heads them up. Every game they have bone headed plays and breakdowns.

Why try and strip the ball now, just get the stops, use timeouts. Giving up yards trying to pull it out.

Stony Brook defense traded clock for points. UNH touchdown 1:43 left, UNH 28 - Stony Brook 20. Stony Brook needs a touchdown and 2 point conversion. Perhaps it's time to throw some forward passes.

Stony brook should have been told from the start of that drive, tackle, don't strip. Had plenty of time with timeouts. Striping just gives up yards. Game over.

Tough contest, great defense Stony Brook! UNH needs to make better decisions inside the five when they have a chance to seal it. That INT really was a great play by Stony Brook but a terrible unnecessary call by the offense to let Stony Brook back in the game.

Game Over. UNH 28 - Stony Brook 20. A lot of back and forth in a close game, but in the end, we lose. We are snake bitten this season, losing close game after close game.

UNH Holds Stony Brook to only 218 total yards for 2nd 3rd & 4th Qtr Thats really what happened here. UNH nearly blows the game with 4:48 left by not playing the clock with amazing field position. Villas gets picked off SB drives down field and scores. Great game! Stony Brook is by far the best 4-5 team in the country. Great defense but UNH has to much depth on offense ... to me that was the difference. UNH very hard to defend. Note to UNH AD No more 2 bye weeks!!!! UGH Stony Brook looked like Alabama until we settled and shut them down. Stony Brook is a great addition to the CAA.

The Stony Brook defensive lived up to their billing, there were questions raised about how good they really were, but I 'm convinced. UNH came out flat, like they were not ready for full on contact with a very physical opponent. However, when I watch Stony Brook play, It seems like they are playing not to lose, rather than to win. I thought the same last year, but with their awesome defense this year I think it is even more true. I'm not sure where that attitude comes from, all I can think is that they it is result of an unwarranted lack of confidence since moving to the CAA. The big positive for UNH is the old football adage, "They found a way to win". This shows maturity and bodes well for the rest of the season as long as they maintain intensity for 60 minutes each game.

I attended the game. I was so impressed with the Stony Brook D Backs, athletic and fast and great tacklers. Held UNH WR R.J. Harris mostly in check all game helped by the fact the rushing Stony Brook lineman and backers kept UNH QB Andy Vailas off balance most of the time.

So true. I think this year it's mostly in part to our qb play being so bad. Bednarski is getting better, but I still don't feel like he's 'the guy' going forward. Passing can be erratic, but he manages a better game than our other option. I was happy this game was competitive, but as I predicted, too much offensive talent on UNH to keep them down 60 minutes. Still, a great game but man it would have been a nice upset!

I thought SBU's Bednarski threw more accurately when he had someone in his face or grabbing his legs then when he had time to think about it.

He's definitely gotten better, but come to think of it, I'd have to agree that he does do better when he has no time to think about it!
