Thanks for your hard work on this list. Makes FCS so much more interesting when we all know about other teams and their players from throughout the country.

But look harder at Jake Wieneke for Rice Award. ;)

If he has a big game this week I'm going to put him in the top 5. He's good! My top 5 for it are pretty darn good. Almost put him 5th and I think you could argue that. The top 4 on the Rice are very good players. All 4 of them should be All-Conference.

Some people have commented that Davis Tull has not had quite the year he had as a Sophomore or Junior, I think part of it is because this is what it looks like for him on basically every play...

Yes he is. You have to be trolling hard to have 5 DEs in your top 5 and one of them isny Tull. Its assinine at the highest level.

Just projecting who I think would be top 5 by voters. I have Tull as the best DE in my draft ratings. It's just that many voters don't see film. I would like for him to have a big game or two late and then I would vault him up the list. He's probably the 3rd best defensive player but UTC is just having a decent season and there are many others with better stats so I don't expect many voters to have him in their top 3.

I have him as one to be considered but don't have an easy spot where I can drop someone for him. If he keeps up what he did this weekend then he may get on there though.

Bryan Bennett from Southeastern Louisiana may not be putting up video game numbers this year but he may have had the "Payton Moment" of the season so far. Against UCA (with 1st Place on the Line) the bears blocked a punt for a TD to make the game 27-24 late in the 4th Quarter. On the next offensive play, Bryan Bennett took a zone read 75 yards for a TD to secure the win for the Lions.

IMO, Bryan Bennett is the best player in the country. He may not win the Payton, but in a 1 game situation I'm glad he's on our team.

If Nova wins out he's Top 3 for sure. Its a matter of how much he can pad his stats in those games. He's held a clipboard for 1.5 games so far and with games like Morgan St, Towson, and Delaware who have all looked less than stellar, I wouldn't surprise if that number jumps to 2.5. He's got an extremely aggressive player who has battled a hip pointer and broken arm since Week 2, and Andy Talley always seems content to let him hold a clipboard instead of taking hits from linebackers (Robertson never learned how to slide and never met a hit too big for him to take)

On the Defensive side, Don Cherry has to finish in the Top 10 for the Buchanan. He won't win it, but he's definitely got All American written all over him. 16 tackles this week, the most by a Nova player since '05. Throw in 5 FF too this season

L4L: No doubt Bryan won't have the numbers to win it, or even finish in the top 5, but he can deliver a Payton moment with the best of them, and I wouldn't trade him for anybody else. He can make every throw or score from anywhere on the field with his wheels, not to mention a great leader. He also had to overcome off-season surgery on his throwing thumb which I'm not sure a lot of people are aware of.

Here's the run vs UCA

Finally on Isiah Corbett as well. IMO, he's as complete a LB as there is in the country as far as being able to play the run, rush the passer and drop in coverage. He also plays fewer snaps than most because we rotate more players on defense than most teams do. Fine young man also ... well deserved recognition!
