Dang! Will the wacko hippie A's fans follow their team to the 'burbs? Those fans made watching Oakland games fun, even though the ballpark is a dump.

Why doesn't any Pro team move to Delaware?!?! I'm getting tired of rooting for the suck ass Philadelphia teams. (yes the Sixers are 3-0, but........)

They may well keep the Oakland name as it is right down the road and it seems that the city is putting nada in the pot and if they did they usually would demand a name change for ego/pride purposes.

Fremont is a big city with a pop over 200,000 peoplpe so its not really in the "burbs." It is in the south bay near San Jose where the majority of the Giants fans live. They better still call them the Oakland A's because Fremont is nothing to brag about.

They had better NOT try to keep the Oakland moniker. It just rubs salt in the wounds of those of us who grew up with the team here. It's a bad move on several levels - teams move downtown now, not to the suburbs. It'll be nowhere near BART and a nightmare to get to from anywhere. I won't be going to any games - they might as well have moved to Portland. It's a shame Oakland couldn't lift a finger to help make a deal happen for a downtown stadium. Now we're stuck with a lame-duck team for 3-5 years.

Given the history of the franchise, this is a short move for the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland A's.
More work for HOK Sport.

There working on extending the BART in Fremont anyways - I am sure if they build a stadium, they will extend the BART to it.

I disagree. Davis ruined that ballpark when he made them install Mount Davis in order to bring back the crappy raiders. However, having lived in that area, The Col was always a great place to watch games, very accessible via BART, great views of the Oakland Hills (before Mount Davis blocked the view) and Oakland itself has many many nice neighborhoods including Jack London Square and the waterfront and Piedmont etc. There are plenty of good nightclubs and restaurants with great ethnic cuisine and its all much more low key and less expensive then SF. I always liked Oakland and although I knew months ago about the rumors that the A's were moving, its still kind of a shame IMHO.

The area around the coliseum is a rathole. Most of the rest of Oakland is great

Certainly a hell of a lot better than the auto malls, strip malls, freeways, and housing developments of fremont

Hmmmmm, I'd probably go with the Suns out of those four teams.
