Young Rocco takes the reins.....Spiders should be OK for the next two games (URI & Elon), but then comes Villanova, and a road game @ Maine....

Rocco pt 2 Electric Boogaloo will be just fine leading the Spiders. They were going to have their hands full with Villanova no matter who was behind center, they'll do no worse than 3-1.

Hate losing Strauss but have alot of confidence in Rocco and we have 2 weeks before the Villanova game. Hopefully he can keep out of dangerous situations during the Rhody and Elon games. If he gets injured, we have to burn Kyle Lauletta's redshirt. That would be a real bad thing.

Isn't "young" Rocco a redshirt senior with 21 starts at Virginia in a prior life?

OK, my bad. :D

Just out of curiosity, what happened at VA to cause him to transfer to an FCS school where he doesn't start? There has to be some juicy details in there somewhere.

^^Mike London brought on an Alabama transfer who took Rocco's job and subsequently sucked.

University of Virginia transfer quarterback Michael Rocco was not eligible to play for the University of Richmond in 2013.
UR applied to the NCAA for a waiver that would allow Rocco to play in 2013.That was denied. UR appealed. The appeal was also denied.
Rocco switched to UR from Virginia in January,2013. He was ineligible in 2013 under NCAA rules because he transferred from an FBS school to an FCS school with only one season of eligibility remaining. Rocco, the nephew of Spiders coach Danny Rocco, was made for UR in 2014. He was participating in spring 2013 ball.
Richmond requested a waiver based on Rocco’s academic schedule, and the fact that he did not redshirt at Virginia.
He started all 13 Cavaliers’ games in 2011, and eight in 2012 when he was one of two quarterbacks who rotated with the first team.
UR’s waiver request was filed in mid-February,2013. The NCAA denied that late in March. UR appealed the decision, made by an NCAA committee that considered the case strictly as it applies to NCAA rules. The appeal was heard by college administrators, who look more deeply into cases.
Michael Strauss, a junior last season who transferred to UR from Virginia in January of 2011, started Richmond’s final four games in 2013 – all victories – and had taken the most snaps with the first string in spring ball 2014.Michael Rocco has been among quarterbacks who share snaps with the second team.
