I realize that we aren't gonna be as good as last year, but UNI is a top 25 mid-major team. I mean...Drexel? Long Beach State? Marist? What in the hell did these teams do?

Nice to see four MVC teams on there though.

Creighton is even in the top 25 presason AP Poll at #19!

They are a mid-major through their conference affiliation.

They are a mid-major through their conference affiliation.

Exactly...

If I could find it, I'd post Oral Roberts' Scott Sutton's answer to that question. He's the head of the poll this year and he answered that question when he took over as the head this year...

This isn't the NAIA or Div III top 25...

Losses to UT-Permian Basin never help anyone break any kind of top 25...

That's a little ridiculous. The Pac-10 was 8-4 in the tourney last year (UCLA was the runner up, remember?) and always has 4-6 teams in. The MVC had a great year last year but you're still the new kid on the block and have a ways to go to truly be considered an equal with the BCS conferences

Well both put 4 into the tourney - the Pac-10 teams went 8-4 and put one team in the championship. What did the MVC do?

2-4 by my count. Pac-10 finished ahead of MVC in Sagarin ratings anyways, as they should have

Seeing two BSC teams in the top 25 and neither of the WSU is aggravating. Makes me wish of 2003.

What, weren't the Wildcats third going into the tournament that year?

Try again buddy...4-4 with three crappy seeds...WSU, SIU, and UNI all deserved better seeds last year...We will once agian put at least 4 in and maybe a 5th in UNI

The only reason the Pac-10 finished above the MVC (because it was behind us the entire season) was due to UCLA.

The MVC sent two teams that were given harder paths (7 seed and 13 seed) to the Sweet Sixteen. To get a 2 seed like UCLA we would have to go unbeaten basically.

But if you actually try and tell me that the Pac-10 is harder top to bottom last year, you are on drugs.

You have UCLA, Washington, Arizona, and California.

We have Wichita State, Creighton, SIU, Missouri State, UNI, and Bradley.

Even little Evansville and Indiana State took down Big-10 teams.

Last I checked UCLA is still a team in the Pac-10. Their wins count. This is like the twilight zone - your comparison just shows the difference in the leagues. The 4 Pac-10 teams are all major programs that have proven themselves in the tournament year after year (you failed to mention Stanford, who made a Final Four in '98 and spent as much time at #1 in the early 00's as anyone, as well as Oregon). The MVC is obviously a great basketball conference, but it only nears the Pac-10 when the Pac-10 is down and the MVC is up. The Pac-10 was down last year and the MVC was way up and the Pac-10 still had a better tourney showing and finished higher in Sagarin. There's not much more to it than that

All I will say, and this is my final post on this topic (unless of course UNI upsets Washington in Seattle next week) is that if the MVC and Pac-10 were to do a challenge similar to ACC/Big 10, I honestly think the MVC would win.

I've never heard anything about the NAU bball program.

They were actually BSC regular season champs last year, but only because UM imploded in the 2nd half of their first game against NAU, losing a 19 point lead. It was the worst 20 minutes of basketball UM played all year. UM then came to NAU for the tourney and schooled them.

That's your opinion, but the Pac-10 has the names, the ratings, the tourney records and the history; the burden of proof is on you to show how the MVC is better. Everyone would love to see the challenge, but it's not going to happen and I don't think there are many games between the two conferences
