Isiah Corbett should be on the list. Dude is playing his ass off and much more versatile this year.

I almost put him in there. if he can have a couple more big games I'll add him. It starts getting tougher picking who to leave off and who to put on as we get farther. However, it also gets easier to pick the top 3-5.

With Vernon Adams out 3-6 weeks the Payton Award will open up. Looks like John Robertson is going to be the frontrunner. I would still say Adams finishes top 10 even if he doesn't return the rest of the year. I would still vote him in my top 3. I have seen enough to know he belongs as a finalist.

A guy to keep an eye on for the Jerry Rice from NDSU now is WR - RJ Urzendowski.

With Vraa looking like he is going to be out for a few weeks, RJ is going to see a lot of action. He had 7 catches for 114 yards against Western Ill (6 catches for 120 yards and 1 TD prior).

I get just basing it on sacks. But davis tull is one of the best 5 defensive players in the nation without question.

Tough to fit him in the top 5 considering he started slow with production. You can argue him for top 5 but I don't think he's a slam dunk. He's definitely one of my top 2-3 just outside of it. The DL is loaded in FCS this year. If you haven't seen those in my top 5 play at least 3-4 times then you need to. If Tull had the length and size of Woodard he would be a 3rd round pick instead of a 6th-PFA type projection.

Backus may not be a NFL guy but he's the best LB in the country, taking entire career into account. I have him behind Trail but Trail plays multiple positions in their scheme and is a freak of nature.

I did but flipped them back since Ross had a good week and he remained on the official Payton list.

Certainly not questioning the list because I don't know a lot about any of the players but I find it interesting that McNeese is considered and top 5-10 team but does not have a single player on the list. Like I said, not questioning because I am not sure which McNeese player would go on any of those list. I guess its been a complete team effort so far.

DE Jonathan Woodard, Central Arkansas, Jr.- 33 TKL, 11.5 TFL, 6 SACKS, 1 BLK in 6 games.

He did that playing in a 3-4 defense! He's a junior and the scouts at the games LOVE this kid! 6'7" and 271..he's the prototype NFL body and I hope he stays another year!

Wags has been playing lights out for sure. Very excited to see what he does against the high-powered offenses we have coming up in Sac, EWU and MSU.
