I'm away this weekend but I was able to watch the second half of this game. Monmouth has a good QB and a strong offense. The thing that struck me about Lehigh this afternoon is that they seem to have forgotten how to tackle. Solid tackling always has been a strong point of Lehigh teams as far back as I can recall.

Was at game. Coaching was awful!!! How many time are we going to see 3rd and 11 and they have Shaf run the draw??? Then after Shaf goes down, McHale runs into the line. They were clearly playing for a FG. You are freakin 0 - 3...Have the QB throw the God Damn ball!!! Pathetic. I heard Coen on the radio after the game. He praised the kids for their effort. Well, he was right on that count. Kids are playing hard. But for me, he and his staff get F'ssssssssssssssssss!

If you dare sit on the "home" side, RichH2, ask at the ticket booth if they have any chairback seats. You're only supposed to get them with season tix and a seat licence "donation" but usually there are some available in the booth on game day. You can lean back and stretch your legs out - and they all have a perfect view.

1. The TD pass was a great individual play. Hard to blame Suggs there.
2. 12 men penalty in that spot is inexcusable. As was the personal foul by Newton. 20 yards of Christmas cannot stand in such a big spot. There was plenty of aggravation watching this game, but those two penalties stick out the most in regards to sheer hair-graying, boneheaded, awful plays.

We cant make any plays in space. miss just about every time. Diving at ankles and just whiffing. Coaching is rough, offensive sequence before end of half was mass confusion. Folmar wasnt in charge. Almost no spark or fire from team. 4th & 1 we meekly run into line and get stuffed. Penalties at end inexcusable. When Shafinsky went down, the play calling with McHale was predictably awful and we played for a fg. On said fg, the snap & hold were horrible. Punting was very poor. Pass coverage consistently poor...........These were just the highlights. In my 20 yrs of watching & playing at Lehigh, this is far and away the worst product I've seen on the field.

Oh yeah, THAT was the most noticeable thing today. UGH! There was a guy sitting in the GA seats one section over from the chairbacks on the north side of the home stands who was yelling at the Lehigh defense much of the day, especially for their shoddy tackling. I can't say I blamed him.

I was there and suffered this embarrassment. You've all hit the "high spots". The two straight runs into the line with a handoff to Sodeke made no sense. They were running wide and need one yard. Hell, Shaf could have easily gotten the one yard on a sneak as I was watching from the horseshoe with my binoculars. So many mistakes. Granted we are down 6 starters and some of the replacements have not gelled with the transition, but some of the basics, i.e. tackling is inexcusable. Bye week will give them a lot of time to soul search and determine what they want to do with the rest of the year...especially the defense. We need more beef on the DL. Opposing QBs have so much time to throw. It's a cluster right now. We've had a great four year run and this may just be "one of those years" where too many things go wrong. We'll find out in two weeks. If Bucknell comes in and runs us out, we might not win another game. If we decide to get a pair and turn it around, it can still be salvaged. I think the number of new coaches on defense may well be impacting what's occurred and Coen needs to figure why we are missing assignments and not tackling.

We must have been sitting in the same area early in the game because my brother and I were also about 10 rows in front of him at the edge of the chairbacks on that side. (We then moved up near the top of the stands in the 2nd quarter so we could get in the shade; I sweat easily and was wearing a brown Lehigh Basketball T-shirt.)

In all honesty, if you look at Lehigh's results this year, they really aren't a truly terrible team; they were very competitive in 3 of their 4 games. However, their offense isn't good enough to overcome the shortcomings of their defense (unlike the last couple of seasons), and having the Mountain Hawks/Engineers merely competitive in games doesn't cut it after the success they've had most years since the late 1990s.

Attendance just over 5600 on a spectacular day. And before anyone says it, it wasn't much better when they were winning. I'd get rid of the live TV. Pard's had a very nice crowd last night.

Do you really think that on a day like yesterday that anyone who lives in the live tv coverage area was spending time watching the game, yet would not actually go to the game. Honestly, if there are some, I bet that number is less than 100. On a rainy day it has an impact, not yesterday.

Agree on all counts excluding the live TV (I was also at Lafayette/Wagner). Multiple people were either selling or giving away tickets near the ticket window too; my brother and I were given GA tickets by someone who had extra group tickets.

I get your point. But as you know, in the local area you can get 25 games on the tube on any given Saturday. I just can't see why you would make it easier for folks to stay home and channel surf. Obviously, a better product on the field would help. But, the decline in attendance has been evident for a few years now. Maybe Pard's are right with lights, later starts??

Considering the Goodman Stadium and Lehigh sports complex layout, I'm not so sure night games would be a good idea. People would be a lot more likely to trip and fall down walking across the fields from the Stabler Arena parking lot to the stadium if the games were played at night, and if you put in too many lights (or arguably any lights) in that area, you negatively impact the natural aesthetics of the field area between the stadium and the arena.

Hey I snared a COMP one. Went to ticket booth, agent saw my Pard, liked the stuffed beast, asked if I was sitting alone and a produced a ticket that an alum who has 2 season tickets dropped off as he had no "second" to watch with. Talked to him throughout game.

Agree! Goodman isn't a night place. Neighbors (I remember when no housing out there!) would object. 25th anniversary BTW for Goodman!

When I'm feeling sympathetic, I do mull over the fact that Lehigh has played its toughest schedule in probably a decade, especially now that it's been revealed that Yale could be a very good team. It's not out of the realm of possibility that all four of their September opponents will be ranked at some point this season - UNH is, JMU was, and Yale and Monmouth could very well be with a couple more wins. And in three of those games, Lehigh had a chance.

But this team isn't good enough to lean on reputation and talent to win games for them.
