I'm not a Yankees fan by any stretch of the imagination... But game recognize game. He played hard, kept out of the papers, and didn't use drugs to get ahead. Heck of an ending for him at home tonight.

Good on ya Cap.

Hope that he will get in Cooperstown on the first ballot unlike Biggio and the other "good" guys who are still struggling to get in... xprayx

Hate the Yankees but I do respect Jeter. Baseball won't be the same without him playing

I don't think there's any question of him getting in on the first ballot.

Agreed. Yankee fans were lucky to have class acts like Jeter and Rivera play for as long as they did. Two great ones.

I still love seeing the NY not make the post-season though! xnodx

jeter is HIGHLY overrated and hurt his team this year through his own selfishness.

Sure it will. He was a consistent but not spectacular player who probably hung on a little too long.

Too bad he wasn't part of the Yankees in 1865..the South might have won :D

Okay cheeze Dip here's how this works

1) The Yankees signed him to that crazy contract
2) Of which he was playing out its final year

Don't blame the player for playing - its what he does
Blame the ridiculous organization for these retarded over extended contracts

What's Jeter supposed to do, have a news conference in spring training and say: I don't want the $17 million dollars so I'm going to step down xlmaox
And as far as judging others "selfishness" you rank near the bottom

Finally:
I basically hate the Yankees (because they win and beat my favorite teams)
Yankees 26 World Series championships / Braves 1

I think the Yankees will be fine for a year or two
