Missouri State at #31.... I guess the squeaker over Colgate for Delaware is a lot better than the Bears win over NW State who just knocked off Louisiana Tech... Not to mention they played OK St. to 17 points while the powerhouse Pitt Panthers drubbed UD to the tune of 62-0...

You shouldn't be surprised. When has SportsNetwork gotten it right? If y'all keep winning, you'll get the respect in the polls that you deserve. The season is still young.

Whoever it is voting for Delaware clearly hasn't watched them play a single down of football this year.

The incompetence is incomprehensible.

Every one in this room is now dumber having read it.

Until voters are forced to own up to their ballots, this poll will always have a certain level of incompetence.

Albany was 24 on TSN and 25 on AGS..doesn't that count for some level of agreement between TSN and the far more democratic AGS?

UD I don't think is even in the ORV section of the AGS poll, so it ain't us Hens fans voting for them....

So wait, what did SHSU do to get dropped from the polls this week, that they hadn't already done to be worthy of their spot in the poll in previous weeks? Somewhere EIU is peeved that they actually won a game, but aren't ranked. LOL. I feel your pain Mo. State fans, as well as ISUb. Guess we're at that point in the season where the MVFC bloodbath begins. If they rank too many MVFC teams, then they'll have a hard time moving them out of the poll when each loss is considered a "quality" loss.

Inconsistency at it's best.

There's not enough Data to rank McNeese at number 5 right now....and I doubt we'll learn anything this week....9-13 would be more appropriate, imho...

I'm stubborn so my philosophy this year on teams like McNeese and UNI who either have a front loaded FBS schedule or a front loaded schedule vs BYE is that I rank them based on how good I think they'll be. I lean of the fact that neither team has done much to prove me wrong yet as they've stayed respectable in their FBS games and crushed the overmatched teams they've played. While I agree that they haven't proven they belong in the top 8 I have both of them there because they haven't proven that they don't belong there either.

Basically, it's subjective reasoning that allows me claim that my preseason impression of both teams was correct for as long as possible into the season :D

Clenz,

Do you really feel that way, or is it that after 12-15 it's still hard to judge based on the quality of opponenets? I try not to judge or evaluate in a vacuum, but seriously what do we really learn about teams based on the games vs. FBS teams? Has any victory over an FBS team come against anyone expected to compete for their league or national championship? I think we've all come to the conclusion that the gap has narrowed somewhat between the best FCS teams and mid/lower level FBS teams.

Not judging in a vacuum, and certainly W's and L's don't tell the whole story, but I think the only thing you can do at this stage of the season is judge based on common opponents. Sure occassionally a team has a bad game and you don't want to judge them based on one or two games.

Example: Chattanooga has one victory, and they had close losses to Central Michigan (FBS) and Jacksonville State (#8). Based on the quality of those losses, I'd have no problem with them being say anywhere 20-25. Especially when Austin Peay is that lone W, and they've lost to a 3 loss team and previously and undeservedly ranked EIU (for EIU's lone win), and they will likely get beat by Illinois St. this weekend. Are we ranking teams like that at #16 based on who they are, or what we THINK they'll be? And is their close loss more impressive than Indiana State's actual W over Ball State on the road?

I think there are quality teams at the bottom of the poll or in the ORV category, they just didn't get their proper respect thanks to EIU, SHSU, Towson and others who keep crapping up the polls in previous weeks. They can't vote themselves into the Top 25.
