I worked a large commercial building that burned in New Orleans a few days after Katrina....right about the time the owner realized he didn't have flood coverage...so, as I'm looking at it, I see weirdness....two places where the roof burned through, but a gap in the underlying damage. Looks to me like two points of origin....in one, I find OBVIOUS signs of accelerant usage, including pour patterns, etc. If I can see it, it's blatantly obvious.... So I hire a C&O Expert, who finds all sorts of other stuff...and he brings in the ATF..

We're on the roof, looking at the pattern of burn through, so I ask the ATF guy how much accelerant he thinks was used...without skipping a beat, he says "It was no more than 5 gallons of gasoline. Couldn't have been ANY more than that"....

I ask him how he can be so sure, because I'm sure he's about to hit me with some formula or other esoteric knowledge that enables him to make that call....

Instead, he just grins and points to a brand new five gallon gas can just over the back fence, in the adjacent property....at the time, everything still had a brown, gray patina from the receeding flood waters on it....except for the pristine gas can!

Two days ago my boss called, friend of hers is dating a new guy and boss wants a "free background check" and said that, "you're really good at getting creepy levels of information on people...." Should I be offended or what?!?!
