When I was at UMass, I had classes with Rick Pitino (head coach Louisville)
and Al Skinner (head coach Boston College).

Never saw Julius Erving anywhere on campus let alone have a class with himxlolx

I'd love to hear some thoughts on Travis Ford from the UMass guys. I was really disappointed when he left EKU, but we've got a terrific young coach in Jeff Neubauer now.

I'm also a big Louisville fan, so I'm looking forward to seeing the Minutemen in Freedom Hall this year. Travis took the Colonels into Louisville three times. You guys should be in really good shape with those transfers that become eligible this year.

Ford's first year at UMass was nothing special, but we only dressed eight players last year.

Four transfers and Tiki Mayben have the UMass basketball faithful hoping for a better year. Most BB pundits have us 2nd or 3rd in the A10.

Always have to give a new coach a couple of years to get his guys and get things organized. UMass basketball fans tend to be a little xidiotx , so everybody has us in the Final Four pretty shortly. :rotateh:

As long as we keep improving I'm OK. Ford seems to have a plan.

It's listed on there. I'm pretty sure ESPN picks the teams, so I cannot possibly understand their reasoning for taking the Raiders. Given Bucknell will have a home game (after visiting UNI last year), I have to believe we'll be on the road.

We are definately the last PL school I would take for the BracketBuster. Bucknell being the obvious choice, Lehigh and HC won the League recently, American and Lafayette having good history/crowd support, and Army/Navy being, well, Army and Navy. That leaves us out, so the decision puzzles me, to say the least.

I took a look at the composite league schedule, it looks like Colgate may be the fill-in team. There are games schedule on Wed. Jan 31 that would easily be moved to 2/17 if Bucknell or HC isn't invited to play in the Bracketbuster games: American @ HC and Bucknell @ Colgate.

PL schedule for 2/17
Open - American
Bracketbuster - HC, Bucknell, Colgate (I'm guessing Colgate may play the one that doesn't get in)
Also - Army/Navy, Lehigh/Lafayette

You guys do realize that there are seriously 100 teams in bracket buster now right? There are 50 games, and they select 5 to show on ESPN, 5 for ESPN2, and 5 for ESPNU. The rest are basically just normal OOC games except that you don't know who you're playing until like a week before. All 11 OVC teams are participating for the second year in a row.

Even with that, it seems odd for the Patriot League (or whoever made the actual decision) to pick Colgate, and not American or even Lehigh (3rd and 4th in the preseason poll).

5th place PL teams lose to DII schools in basketball, so I don't see why any school that even remotely considers itself bubble worthy in this year or next to want to be locked into a home-and-home with them when it will hurt their SOS.

The schools can apparently turn it down, though it'd be stupid to do so...

Woah there Tiger. You need to beat us before you can play Duke. Wishful thinking on your part, but you first have to play the game!

We have a tough schedule and don't play at home until Dec. 2. Our schedule is a major upgrade from years past, much like that of our football team. This year we have much more athleticism and talent, so we should see some improvements!

Yeah, not to be pessimistic, but you are a HUGE underdog in everyone of those games.

The UNI vs. Nicholls State game should be cool though. If we can't meet up in football, might as well in basketball!

UVSC is a tough team. Coached by a former University of Utah coach.

Another team playing Portland. Are they independent or something?

No, they are in the WCC. We have a history of playing at Saint Mary's (Moraga, Ca) the last few years. I think Coach Stewart is trying to branch into different conferences.
