I noticed where everyone made their comments regarding where everyone has their say where they think their teams are going to end up. I usually hold off until the week of the season. Without further ado, here are my preseason picks.

1) Furman - defending conference champion/autobid winner starts out here.
2) Chattanooga - Mocs were this close to making the playoffs last year, can they do it this year.
3) Samford - Something tells me the Bulldogs have kinda reloaded.
4) Wofford - Can they compete with the new SoCon order?
5) Western Carolina - Poised to have their best season in years.
6) The Citadel - Can they rebuild and be competitive?
7) Mercer - Have the potential to be .500 this year.
8) VMI - Will have growing pains this year.
ETSU - Had their first team meeting in years.

Predictions
Chattanooga @ Central Michigan - Mocs are good, Chippewas slightly better
Reinhardt @ Mercer - Bears kickoff season with a win
Wofford @ Georgia Tech - Terriers get stung in Atlanta
Coastal Carolina @ The Citadel - Bulldogs have hard time at home
VMI @ Bucknell - Bison pickup win against Keydets
Western Carolina @ South Florida - Catamounts get gorged by the Bulls
Gardner-Webb @ Furman (Game of the Week) - Paladins start out the season with a win
Samford @ TCU - Horned Frogs too much for Bulldogs

1) Chattanooga - If they play with consistency, they should play well into December this year, but they need to avoid the chokes.
2) Furman - a replay of the last half of last season.
3) Wofford - shouldn't have another off team until 2017
4) Samford - big graduation losses knock them down a notch.
5) Western Carolina - slowly moving up
6) The Citadel - a lot of excitement about new coach, but 9 true freshmen on the 2-deep
7) VMI - I don't know if they can hold on this spot long.
8) Mercer - hasn't beaten a scholarship level team since the 1940's. They need to win an FCS game to move up.
9) ETSU - sitting on the sidelines waiting for 2016

This week:
Chattanooga at Central Michigan - If everything goes right, Mocs cold pull this off, but I suspect they lose by 10
Reinhardt at Mercer - Bear Cubs by 17
Wofford at Georgia Tech - will be closer than last year's Baylor game. Hopefully we can keep it close into the second half.
CCU at The Citadel - The Bullpups tend to play well against better opponents at home and keep it close, but lose by 8.
VMI at Bucknell - Bucknell by 20
WCU at South Florida - Can't-Mounts lose by 21
Gardner-Webb at Furman - GWU started last year with three big wins, and faltered down the stretch. Horsey People get their revenge by 17.
Samford at TCU - Froggies by 21

8) Mercer - hasn't beaten a scholarship level team since the 1940's.

Reinhardt & Warner are NAIA "scholarship level teams" and were when Mercer defeated both of them in 2013. They each had 2 scholarship recruiting classes prior to their games against Mercer. NAIA programs allow a maximum of 24 full scholarships for football that may be split among any number of student athletes.

1.) Furman - I want to put UTC here, but Furman has less to prove at this point
2.) Chattanooga - We have to prove our newcomers are going to step up
3.) Wofford - This was close with Samford, but Wofford never seems to have two bad years in a row.
4.) Samford - Talented, but have to replace a lot of key players
5.) The Citadel - Never a easy win
6.) Western Carolina - This is an improving team and have their best season in years
7.) VMI - May struggle to keep this spot
8.) Mercer - Mercer may be a good SoCon team someday, but my gut says not this year.
9.) ETSU - Ready for 2015

Predictions:

Chattanooga @ Central Michigan - We may pull the upset, but my gut says we are 7 points shy
Reinhardt @ Mercer
Wofford @ Georgia Tech
Coastal Carolina @ The Citadel
VMI @ Bucknell
Western Carolina @ South Florida
Gardner-Webb @ Furman
Samford @ TCU
