Sunday's pick at no. 20 in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history is Larry Warren. Warren was a defensive tackle who played for the Braves from 1974 to 1976.In Warren's first season, he helped the Braves win the 1974 SWAC and National Black College Championship with 9-2 overall and 5-1 SWAC record. He posted over 70 tackles during that season.Warren was named the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding performance in 1976. He accumulated over 100 tackles and guided the Braves to an 8-2 record en route to a SWAC Championship title. The Braves defense allowed 7.5 points per game that season keeping seven of their opponents under seven points or less. He was also named to the NCAA and American Football Coaches Association All-American teams.Warren won two SWAC Championships with the Braves in his three year career and is the only defensive tackle and last defensive player in school history to be named defensive player of the year.
