In an offense that passed for nearly 300 yards per game last season, it would be understandable for the average fan to overlook Lamar's ground attack - to assume its sole responsibility was to keep opposing defensive coordinators from cheating too much against the pass. But in the midst of a record-setting offense, Lamar's ground game did more than keep opposing defenses honest. It made them pay for mistakes, and at times it even made them pay when they guessed correctly.
