*yawn*, there hasn't been a memorable World Series since the D'backs-Yanks in '01. The last 3 have been brutal IMHO. This series the Tigers couldn't make a routine throw to 1st to save their lives. I don't mind the Cards winning but Rolen getting a ring irks me a little.

NOW for your 2006 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS
"ST LOUIS CARDINALS"
Congrats St Louis and all there fan.
I am a fan of the organization and their fans. They deserve it.
They remind of GRIZ fans. THE best in their respected divisions/leagues/affiliations. Leave it to a former Dodger to pitch his off in the WS.
Enjoy it St Louis fans !
That is always one class organization with classy fans.

It must have been pretty exciting for Joe Buck to call a world championship for the team his dad spent so long broadcasting.

I was just going to mention that, you beat me to it. Actually, I didn't know it was # 10, but I knew the Cards were 2nd behind the Yanks.

I thought baseball ended in mid-July.
Actually love the fact all these experts will now have to eat crow after picking Detroit to win in 4 or 5. (just like the A's in '88 against the Dodgers ... and D'Backs, Marlins etc. who won over the Yankees)

So much for all of you folks who thought the AL was going to just walk all over the NL. I guess the Cardinals showed that the NL wasn't such an infereior league after all.

It was nice to see a fellow Fresno State alum, Jeff Weaver, get the final game win. He is the first player from my school's outstanding baseball program to earn a World Series ring. He pitched pretty well in the postseason. After getting screwed by the Angels (what kind of team releases a player to bring his BROTHER up to the Big Leagues — a totally classless one), he showed he still can pitch. It also was ironic that Weaver beat the team that had drafted him No. 1 and where he had been their ace pitcher for many years. It was only the fourth time in history that a pitcher had clinched a World Series by beating his former team (Lew Burdette, Braves over Yankees; Mike Cuellar, Orioles over Reds; and Jose Rijo, Reds over A's are the only other ones.

I think FOX's production values have dimmed significantly. I think a lot of it comes down to Joe Buck.
McCarver has diminished as well. I hate watching the series because I don't want to mute it and I don't want to listen to them.
Tigers couldn't figure out Cardinal's pitching. That surprises me.

One of the few downfalls for Steroit this season was inconsistant hitting, they need morre patience at the plate and #2 which KILLED them in the WS was defense, their pitchers need to work on bunt plays and throwing all winter long!!! The Cards got healthy and won, great job..2 in a row for John Rooney

83... the number of regular season wins by the Cardinals....the lowest regular season total ever for a World Series Champion.

You know the whole release thing by the Angels had to be really tough on Jared Weaver. He is quite a bit younger than Jeff, but I've heard they are very close. Obviously, the Cardinals have a better pitching coach (Dave Duncan) than the Angels (Bud Black) do. Jeff Weaver also pitched very well when he was with the Dodgers and was working with Jim Colborn (Colborn is a great guy, used to help him promote a golf tournament, and a great pitching coach). Jeff Weaver is one of those guys with complicated mechanics, so he needs a high-maintenance pitching coach.

Yeah, talked to Brien Taylor (Yankees #1 draft pick) last week and we were talking about Weaver's mechanics. It was interesting to get the perspective from someone who has been there with the arm problems.
and every once in a while, I have a customer thats a scout for the Giants. He covers the ACC and SEC, so I get the scoop on who they are looking at, kinda cool

Team with 13th best regular season record this year wins the title.
Why bother with a regular season?

Injuries...you give me the Cards team that played the whole postseason for a whole season healthy and they win 100+ games just like they did the past two years...this was the first year that they were hit with the injury bug and it turned out well for them...
Go Cards!

Don't despair, LeopardFan. The Phils won it all in '80, 26 years ago...when I was 26...OMIGAWD! That's half a lifetime!!
Seriously, nice job by the Cardinals to get one back for the NL.
