SFA vs. Sam Houston Nov. 1- Does this game really need an introduction? BOTPW. Sam wins.
McNeese vs. SELA Nov. 15- Two of the better teams last year. The lions look strong and win.

SDSU is a big game this year as they will likely be the third team challenging. However, for some reason SDSU just doesn't "scare" UNI. SDSU got UNI last season in OT during the midst of UNI's epic collapse/injury thing/whatever you want to call it but it took 2 OTs and UNI's All American kicker missing a 30 yard chip shot as time ran out in regulation to send the game to OT. We've heard all about Zenner and then watched him have a killer 271 yards in 3 games at just a touch over 4ypc with a long of 19 in those three games. We've heard all about how Sumner is better than Kollmorgen and Jensen and then we've watched him throw more picks than TDs and spend nearly as much time on his back as on his feet against UNI. We've watched UNI outscore SDSU 92-57 (31-19 and only once has SDSU scored more than 14...last season when they had 26 regulation points). UNI is 6-2 against SDSU since our first game with them in 06.
It's not that we as fans "overlook" SDSU, but they aren't on the same level as NDSU or SIU in our view.

OK, so Georgetown hasn't actually won at Fordham since 1974, the Rams figure to be clinching the PL title that week and gearing up for a game at Army the week later, and there's that 0 vs. 60 scholarship thing, but these teams have a rivalry that goes back to 1890.

Being the CAA newbie, I'm really looking forward to our game with William & Mary. Even though W&M is public, it seems to have a private feel & have been consistently successful in football over the past decade. They are more or less what I think Elon Football aspires to be over the next few years.

Agree on the excitement level, etc., but just for the sake of accuracy, when the game is played, it will be Mercer's 5th game against scholarship teams - Reinhardt (2x 2-0 or 1-1 (TBD 8/28)), Warner (1-0), and, apparently, U. of San Diego (0-1), all offer Athletic Scholarships for Football. This WILL be Mercer's 1st game against a team with 63 scholarships...unless USD had REALLY gone off the PFL's rails.

Delaware @ JMU 9/27
Towson @ Delaware 10/18
Delaware @ William & Mary 10/25
Delaware @ New Hampshire 11/15
Villanova @ Delaware 11/22
Not a ton of excitement in the Hens non-conference slate and, no offense, but Elon and Albany are too new to really get anyone hyped before the season starts.
I think these are the conference games that will show whether Delaware is playoff worthy or not this season. Villanova is the last game of the year, as usual, so by then it may be a little late. But if they struggle against these teams and come into the Villanova game with anything less than a 7-4 record, they don't deserve consideration for the playoffs.
No Maine this year, which is good considering they have been the Boogeyman the past few seasons for UD.

I would be surprised if UNI is not the MVFC preseason #1 with NDSU #2 and SDSU #3.
The conference games I am looking forward to the most are the following
1. NDSU @ UNI. I think this game will decide the conference title and have major implications on the playoffs. Plus I would imagine that UNI has major revenge on their mind for the game last year in Fargo.
2. SDSU @ NDSU. Will the Bison keep the Border Marker for another year and can the Bison D stone wall the SDSU O and ZZ again.
3. SIU @ NDSU. Typcially this a low scoring defenseive struggle but last year NDSU ran the ball down SIU's throat in the second half. Will SIU let that happen again?

Yep - a good friend of mine was the Defensive Coordinator for Warner. I really felt sorry for him during the game. They actually had some big, fast, and good athletes on that field though. That's what a practice year (or NOT having one) will do for a football team. They did improve somewhat during the year though. They were only down by 10 at half to Gardner-Webb, who won a few games last year, if I recall. I watched that broadcast on the Big South network recently and, IMHO, Warner competed with them athletically for the most part. They just continued to blow assignments and it caught up to them. Warner also played (8-2 #28 ranked NAIA) Ave Maria close for a half and won their final game against Concordia, a team who will line up vs. Samford in Birmingham 3 weeks after the Bulldogs play Mercer there.

I know the OVC doesn't get much love on here, but EIU vs. JSU could very well determine the conference champion. Other than that, the only other teams I really see making a serious run in the conference would be TSU and UT-Martin, so the conference matchups among these 4 teams will be the games to watch.

Only 5 home games this year, but we have BOTH MONTANAS AT HOME!!! Should be great games!! Also, our Rivalry with Davis is at home, and it's always a great game whether one team is down that year or not. The whole season is a bit of a hopeful mystery this year, and I can't wait! Not too bad but I would rather take the beat down NDSU gave SDSU last year in Brookings.
Total yards NDSU 371 SDSU 124 and SDSU had no chance of winning that game.
Rushing yards NDSU 262 SDSU -32 with a RB that has run for 2000 yards the last few seasons.
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=332712571
Zach Zenner ran 8 times for 4 yards. In NDSU land 4 yards will forever be renamed to be a "Zenner"
Total yards UNI 434 NDSU 207 and NDSU still had a chance to win that game in the 4th quarter.

For me its Coastal-Liberty. up until about 2009, that game pretty much decided the Big South title and that pretty much will be the case again this year.
