It's about the same % as most years. I think by the title game last season we were down to about 15 people who submitted every week/missed less than 3.

The difference is I've never DQed in the past, not called out on the sheet missed picks like I am this year. I always get 50-60 people doing the preseason and week 1 picks. I wade through the amount of time that takes knowing that by the time the end of the regular season comes I'm probably going to be between 25-30. As you can see this year, we are already at only 26 who haven't missed a week.

I put all three years on a line graph to track the total drop through week 9 for all 3 seasons and it's about the same.

This is a lot like when companies send out the surveys in the mail with a dollar bill. They sent out thousands hoping for a 3-7% return. I expect a 35-50% drop in participation as the season wears on.

Average points for those that weren't DQed during the season was 245 out of 385 (63.6%)

Finished the regular season with 30 players not getting DQed (that started week 1). That's a drop of 24 players, so that's about average. I think I called a couple weeks ago I'd be shocked if we finished with more than 30.

Proof that the easiest way to do well in this game is to not miss a week....

18 players didn't miss a week...they all finished in the top 19 regular season.

3 players missed only 1 week....all 3 would be top 10 if they got their average in that one week.

Don't let the regular season standings keep you from playing in the playoffs...this is where it gets fun and can have 30-50 point swings.

The AQ/AL points will take me a while to total. There is a lot of colors and a lot of point possibilities in that sheet....likely will be late in the week when I get it done.

7a PLAYOFF FORMAT AND SCORING
Each round will have 16 points available from games. First and Second round games will each be worth 2 (since there are 8 games) the Quarters worth 4, Semi's worth 8, and the NC game worth 16. With each game you will pick your confidence level on a scale of 1-5. A confidence of 0 is the least confident and a pick of 5 is the most confident. The confidence score determines how many bonus points you get...AND HOW MANY YOU CAN LOSE IF WRONG. Confidence scoring is as follows:
0: No bonus points earned or lost and you are subject to ridicule from other players for taking the chicken way out
1: 1 bonus points earned or lost
2: 2 bonus points earned or lost
3: 3 bonus points earned or lost
4: 4 bonus points earned or lost
5: 5 bonus points earned or lost

Next year will be easier...I am tempted to try it for this year too...I don't know.


Right now I include the game as points (dependent on round) and then points on it.

I think I'm going to change it to straight betting points. It stays the same but I take points away from the "pick" itself.

You "bet" 5 points NDSU will beat SDSU. You either get those points or lose them.

Right now I'm balancing if the game was right this many was gained and then if this many was bet then I add this many or take this many.

It's a really small change but will ease scoring

Pick the winner of each game and wager the amount of confidence you have in that pick on a scale of 1-5. You will get, or lose, that amount of points if you get the picks right or wrong

I like the new form. But as I said in my PM to you, I think the score are not right, but not sure. I looked at others and they also seem off. If we get 2 points for correctly picking the win and the confidence points chosen either added or subtracted for wins and loses respectively, then they look off. Am I cyphering it wrong? Looks like you only added the confidence points in and not the 2 points if you got the win picked. Again unless I misunderstood the rules up front.

You had my score at 24. That checks for the confidence points but I think it should be 36 since I got 6 picks correct at 2 points a piece for 24+12=36. No? Just asking. It might not matter since it would be added to everyone, but it might....

Yeah, I checked it. It's got the 20. Just sometimes people are using ****ty old IE or something and it totally f's what you are trying to do so looking for what might be the problem on their end.

Well the form showed 10 for others before you submitted is what doesn't make sense and you are correct if the teams changed then it must have too. You can see people above you on the sheet selected 10 so it was done prior to you submitting. I didn't look at the timestamps but no need to since it moves down the sheet anyone above you submitted before you.

i didn't discuss that game. There are also times I'm much more diplomatic in what i say about a match up than what i believe because it's a national radio show, not clenz' ranting podcast...don't get me wrong, I've thought about doing one of those too
