Two men from the NEC’s Nutmeg State contingent look to run down the top honor in Division I FCS. With the start of training camp less than a month away, the Sports Network unveiled its preseason candidates for the Walter Payton Award – given annually to the top player in the Football Championship Subdivision – and a pair of Connecticut-based running backs made the 20-person list. Sacred Heart’s Keshaudas Spence and Central Connecticut’s Rob Hollomon will vie for an award whose past winners include Tony Romo and Steve McNair.
