you'd like your school to schedule a home-home series with, and why?

Eastern Illinois- For old times sake
NDSU- Good midwestern school, short drive, want to see the Fargodome
Georgia Southern - Rematch of the '85 semis, want an excuse to go down
to Statesboro
McNeese St- Want an excuse to go to Lousiana, remember them coming to
the dome when I was younger.
JMU- Battle of the Purple Powers. (also an excuse to go to Virginia :D )

Delaware (Gore-Tex Bowl)
San Diego (one of the closest I-AA teams to NAU, plus guaranteed W) ;))
North Dakota State
Georgia Southern (love to see them on OUR turf)
Maine (they have as much problems filling a schedule out as we do)

Maine (they have as much problems filling a schedule out as we do)

I didn't know you guys had a tough time scheduling. I would assume adding NoCo helps a bit. I'd say to do another series with NAU, but the last one wasn't as exciting as I hoped.

Ga So- so we can beat them in a rematch of the 99 semis
Montana- b/c they are legendary
Delaware- same as Montana
Grambling- Who wouldnt want to play them with their history
Princeton- Would love a H & H vs the IVY

NDSU --- Because we owe them one!
Cal Poly --- Because I'd LOVE to go to SLO for a game, but they're always going to Missoula!
UNI --- Hell, we can fly to Iowa to play the Hawkeyes, but not the Panthers???? : smh : : smh : : smh :
USD --- Because I'd rather beat their asses than some D-II school.
UD --- Because we owe them one too!!!!     (anyone remember 49-48? Anyone? Beuhler?)

App St.- revenge for the loss during week two and a start of a rivalry between two back to back champs
Montana- replay the NC game of '04
Furman- the purple bowl
WKU- I've never been to Kentucky
Chattanooga- A chance to say you played in Chattanooga at least once in two years.

October 25th, 2006, 08:12 PM
UNI - love to see them again and the dome
Georiga Southern - another team from the playoffs I want to see again
App St - never did get that home-home
Montana St - Battle of the Bobcats
CCU - another east coast school that would be fun to see

So we can beat the living snot outta them at home then in there place, and listen to the fans whimper for years as a result.

I guess this is within reason (as in I-AA schools)

Elon:
Delaware, Villanova
Lehigh, Colgate, Georgetown or Lafayette
Youngstown St
Guilford (DIII yes, but old rivalry, if only they could jump to D-II like they keep talking about)
San Diego (just to shut them up)
Harvard, Yale or Princeton

All are schools in areas that Elon recruits students from.

I wanted Richmond and William & Mary, but we now have those series.

For UMass - Our old local rivalries have fallen away. I would love to get them back.

1. UConn - This is our oldest rivalry in all sports. In both football and hoops they are eager to schedule us when they think they can win, but they run away fast when we are superior. Most folk here woud not know that we beat them at hoops in the 04-05 season when they were ranked #6 at the time. Our football woud whup them pretty good right now.

2. Boston College - Our oldest in-state rival. We are playing them in football next fall, but of course they will not come to us.

3. Harvard - Used to be fun games. They have not been willing to schedule us for many years. I loved the games in Harvard Stadium.

4. Holy Cross - Another old in-state rivalry. They are on our future schedule, I believe, for the first time in many years.

5. BU - Of course, it would help if they had a team. They have a terrific new barn - Agganis Arena - for hoops and pucks, and we play them in those sports.

Northern Iowa - Besides playing in last years National Title game I think it'd be great for App fans to see the Dome and UNI fans to see KBS. Fortunately for me, I've seen both.

Delaware - A great tradition up in Newark and I've love to see the Tub someday.

James Madison - If this years game was any indication, it'd be silly for two of the top publics in the Southeast not to play each other on a yearly basis.

Montana - Wash-Griz Stadium. Missoula. No brainer.

East Tennessee State - Here's hoping that the Bucs bring back football someday and make an honest attempt at fielding a good team. Lots of fans between Boone and Johnson City that I think would like to have this game back.

Northern Arizona, good, relatively close Big Sky opponent.
Southern Illinois, think it would be a good game at both fields.
Harvard, both, UC Davis and Harvard have academic reps, at least locally for UC Davis - geez, TCU fans thought we were friggin' morons 'til we told them. (they probably won't travel to Davis though)
Northern Iowa, both have strong offenses.
Delaware, great coast to coast matchup.

unfinished business: I'd like to see Youngstown State in Davis, or at least a home/home scheduled in the next 5 years, I think that will continue to be a great matchup in the future.

App State - avenge the loss earlier this year and to get back to playing them because the two schools are very similar.
San Diego - to kick the snot out of the Toreros
Furman - have a fun rematch of the incredible 14-13 game in 2004
Montana - rematch of title game
UNI - best teams in purple around

Boise St. - One of our Big Sky rivals, would be nice to see how we stack up.
Georgia Southern - We owe them a beat down for 2000.
North Dakota St. - We owe them a game in Fargo & Griz nation would travel in hordes.
Harvard - Would be nice to see what all the hoopla is about.
Grambling St. - They would find out who the real "Icon" is.

Funny. I never even though about I-A schools. I wish we played Idaho every year. My alma mater, and I HATE THEIR GUTS!!!!!

BSU would be good too...at least more Griz fans could attend than fricking Iowa....

Georgia Southern
NDSU
Furman

October 25th, 2006, 08:54 PM
Texas Southern - local team and so I can see 3rd Coast Tiger's face on the scoreboard when we triple, if not quadruple up their team

San Diego - like the others, I'd like to kick their tailend! San Diego is easy access from Houston area as well

North Dakota St - played the rest of the SLC for the most part, why not SHSU? GWFC foes are good foes for Kats to play with

GA Southern - six flags, big time I-AA program

Western Kentucky - whooped them in 2004 playoffs. Would love to whoop'em a few times more before they go to the land of SLC ex's...

Oh yeah. :bang: xlolx

I kinda skipped last year in my mind, thinking that we were supposed to play them to open up the new stadium... :nonono2:

Well, screw Portland then.

NAU: more Big-Skyage, plus it would make sense in one of our fight songs, since we don't play Humblodt any more. "Chop down the 'Jacks..."

October 25th, 2006, 09:15 PM
My list includes some of the top teams from the top coferences that have what I consider some of the top facilities and traditions. These are also teams that I think our fans would want to see at Alex G. Spanos Stadium. I definately would not want to see all of them on the schedule in the same year.

Youngstown State: The Ice Castle and the Championships.

App. State: Standing I-AA Champ and "Welcome to the Rock".

Delaware: Love to see a game in the "Tubb".

McNeese State: Tailgating there is legendary.

Georgia Southern: Gotta see the six flags.

Runner ups:

Furman
Ill. State
UNI
William & Mary (Love the Green and Gold)
UMASS (Former Cal Poly AD is there)

Walkon79
October 25th, 2006, 09:28 PM
1) McNeese State - For the aforementioned tailgate. Went to a playoff game there in 2002. 3 day party with great hospitality.
2) NDSU - Oh we did that already. Well this should be an every year meeting.
3) Anybody in the A10 - Would love to see the fall colors
4) Texas State - As someone else mentioned, battle of the Bobcats
5) San Diego - Cause I have relatives there, the kids love Sea World, and I'm tired of all this playoff talk from a non-scholly. Play the Big Boys and then talk.

App. State - As several have said, this has the potential of being a great rivalry
Harvard - For the tradition
Furman - Another great SoCon team!
Montana - To be the best, you gotta beat the best! (this would also apply to two of the three above!)
Georgia Southern - See above.

I'll admit I'm a southern guy, so my choices are pretty biased.

Grizo406
October 25th, 2006, 09:54 PM
Georgia Southern - Because of what happened in 2000, and also because they are my 2nd favorite I-AA team.

James Madison - I want some pay-back for what happened in 2004. Although the better team won that year, I still want some pay-back, damn it!

Delaware - 49-48 still bothers me, and I'd like to see Chickenman & the Mrs. again.

Northern Iowa - Because they are over-rated.

A team from the San Diego area.

October 25th, 2006, 09:59 PM
These are teams that I'd like to see often on the Robert Morris schedule...they were chosen both for proximity (regional rivalries) and for quality. One note: I think Western Kentucky would work well, too, but they're likely on their way out of I-AA.

Youngstown State - only an hour away. Ohioans and Pennsylvanians hate each other. Could really play into the Pittsburgh/Cleveland rivalry too.

Morgan State - RMU plays Mount St. Mary's just up the road from Baltimore in basketball, and they have a good rivalry going. Could be interesting, again with an NFL rivalry, between Baltimore/Pittsburgh.

Eastern Kentucky - equivalent to a trip to Connecticut for the Colonials.

Georgetown - Robert Morris played them and won in 1997 for the ECAC championship. I'd like to see the matchup start again.

Lehigh - Gotta play into the Eastern/Western PA rivalry.

DFW HOYA
October 25th, 2006, 10:10 PM
Georgetown has added home and away games with Penn and Yale so I won't include them below. Here are five more:

1. Villanova. Instant rivalry.
2. Harvard. Large Georgetown presence in Boston, makes sense.
3. Columbia. Large Georgetown presence in New York, also makes sense.
4. Howard. The two schools have never met, but are five miles apart on the same bus route. A good game for DC fans, but Howard has not shown interest.
5. Navy. Great local game...someday.

October 25th, 2006, 10:15 PM
Georgia Southern: The two all time winningest I-AA programs go head to head.

Yale: Playing in the Bowl would be fun. I'd really like to see any Ivy League team on the schedule.

Illinois State: A good program right now...plus they tried to steal hire away EKU President Joanne Glasser about 2 or 3 years ago. She eventually withdrew her own name, though.

James Madison: This would be in the short term. My I-A team is Louisville and I'd love to see former Cardinal Justin Rascati in action again!

Montana: I'd just love to see Washington Grizzly Stadium.

Also maybe Nicholls State....there's only room for one Colonels in Division I...lol.

October 25th, 2006, 10:25 PM
I would like to see Cal Poly go with:
Fresno State (The closest school with football 140 miles. We are 10-29-2 with them. Last game 1985.
Montana (We have been there 8 times, they have been here 3. Last 3 there plus this year there.
Northern Arizona (We are 0-8 against them)
University of San Diego (no explanation needed)
App State (National Champion)

Any OVC team : recruiting purposes mainly

I-A - Army : I've always wanted to see a game at West Point.

Montana - Great atmosphere there and a cool place to visit.
NDSU - They seem to be up and coming....
App St. - UD has never played them before
Any team from Texas - would be a cool roadtrip
UCD - Good program, would be a fun roadtrip

I would have mentioned the following, but UD has played all of them already: GSU, YSU, UNI, McNeese, Salukis, Furman (but having a series with any of those would be great also)..

Wofford, Coach Tavani's son plays there

Seems like a lot of people didn't want to play them this year since they had to schedule Mars Hill and then go to Gardner-Webb just to get to 11 games.

Fans may want to see them on the schedue but it appears that AD's and head coaches don't!

Yeah, and I see that quite a few wouldn't mind playing Georgia Southern now that they aren't doing so hot (but its only temporary so make sure you get them next season or you might be SOL).
My five:

1. Montana-I've never been to Montana, I'm sure plenty of Montanians? have never been to God's country. Also two of the best atmospheres in I-AA. Cobb, make it happen.
2. NDSU-Heard alot and want to see what they got.
3. Southern- I watch the game with Grambling every year and I want to tailgate with some guys from Southern, they look like a real fun bunch.
4. Delaware-I Love beating yankees at anything.
5. Umass- See above.

I-A Wake Forest and UNC, I'm so sick and tired of UNC fans, the worst are the ones who go to ASU and its just disgusting and wrong and it makes me want to throw up I can't even talk about it.

UMass - Rematch, they beat Davis in the D-II Boardwalk Bowl
NAU - Probably closest I-AA team that Davis has not played

Jax St. - I'd like to see the OVC step up to play the GWFC.

Two lists.

For the program in general:
Montana - Hens remember 49-48 fondly
Navy - had home and home before they got too big for their dress whites
Rotating through SoCon
Rotating through Southland
Rotating through Gateway

3 selfish requests - potential I-AA day trips for me
Youngstown State
Eastern Kentucky
Western Kentucky

Dayton and Butler would be easy day trips, but not worth home and homes IMO

October 26th, 2006, 08:27 AM
Georgetown - We have a home and home with them in basketball...they should return the favor. :) Plus, I can walk to the GU stadium.
Hampton - W&M and Richmond have beat them lately, now it's our turn.
Lehigh
Furman
Montana - All three to re-live the magical 04 year.

App State (I've seen "The Rock" now its time for ASU to see "The Wack"
Montana (you want to be the best....you gotta play the best)
Montana State (we did a home/home back in the 90's along with EWU - coached oddly enough by Kramer.)
Illinois State (loved Bloomington/Normal considering it was right after 9/11)
Southern Illinois (see how the atmosphere is now compared to the atmosphere before Coach Kill arrived)
Ga. Southern (I bet some Statesboro folks are just DYING to see us up there:nod: )
James Madison (Ex Texas State DC (Mickey Mathews) vs his pupil (David Bailiff - Defensive GA)

October 26th, 2006, 08:58 AM
The Hens have done home and homes with a lot of the teams that would probably be on my list (YSU, GSU, FU upcoming, El Cid...) so going with ones we haven't done (or in a long time) and that I may actually make the trip....

- AppSt: two traditional teams with big attendance, never met
- EKU: two early powers, would love to see Tubby and Kidd in the stands together

And believe it or not, three Ivy's...
- Princeton: only an hour from Newark and I still want to see their stadium
- Penn: also very close by and I'd like to visit Franklin again
- Harvard: love Cambridge and the the tradtion of the Elis.

SC State- has been a great game the past two years and why shouldn't we continue with the instate rivalry.

JMU - We've played once for a hell of a game and go to you guys next year....I think it could become a hard fought southern brawl and keep both teams fighting for wins.

App St. After last year we want revenge at some point...

Furman - Another SC rivalry that was a great game this year.

Any ACC team in the south!

For a team with little I-AA history like CCSU, I picked a wide range of games. Most of these teams would likely never return a game, but there is a better possibility then say, Delaware :)

Yale - In-state, Ivy League, Walter Camp, Yale Bowl, enough said!
Towson - Very similar school histories, close location in Maryland, improving A-10 team, new stadium.
Coastal Carolina - A new program, recent playoff contender, great location by the beach.
Northern Iowa - Great playoff program, chance to play in the dome.
Grambling - Great HBCU team, plus the band!

I'll exclude the ones UD has already done home and homes with, or will do (Georgia Southern, Y St., Furman, Citadel, etc). I go with:

Montana - If the Griz aren't on your list then you're lying or you play them already.

Grambling - I like tradition and Grambling has it.

McNeese St - Heck, we've only played three times and there's animosity galore. Would be a great rivalry.

North Dakota St - you know you're a serious program when halfway through your transition you are already one of the top 5 programs in all of I-AA - this team will be a beast year in and year out and who wouldn't want to go to Fargo and see a game??

Appalachian St - what's not to like? Good teams, great stadium, passion - would make for some great Saturdays.

SC State - we used to play often and the trip to Orangeburg was a good one (I would list CCU but we are doing that one now)
William and Mary - bring back an old SoCon rival ( I would have listed Richmond but we did that one not too long ago)
JMU - for obvious reasons
Eastern Kentucky - we played them long ago in the playoffs (twice I think)
NDSU - Someone needs to show them that they did not see the best of the SoCon:smiley_wi

Montana : Love to play them HERE in a regular season game. Had some buddies on the team in 1995(?) that played in the blizzard playoff game(well,a blizzard to us). Still say it was the worst day of their lives..too cold. Plus I'd love to make it out there...when its not cold
Deleware : Always a good game, great fans and of course I'd like to make it up there, missed last trip up there.
UNH : We owe them payback.
Texas St. : We owe them payback...In OUR HOUSE
Grambling : ...Why not? And only if they brought their band!!!

Montana: obvious reasons. I have always wanted to go see a game in Mizzoula and would love to give them some Southern hospitality in the 'Boro.

Youngstown State: Two historical programs, with a lot of NC's between them. I think it would be a good series.

UNH: paybacks for the playoff loss.

UMASS: Enjoyed the '99 game where AP ran all over them. Need a couple more games to remind them that we gave them the NC in '98. 6 or 7 turnovers and we still almost came back and won it.

Tx St.: same as UNH above

You're right, a lot of people don't make a lot of the trips that are already on the schedule. But I'd be up for this one - who knows when you would play them in Missoula next. We had 1993, and we're still counting for another trip back or to have them come to Newark (although truth be told with the 49-48 win we are undefeated in Griz stadium and actually beat a Dave Dickenson led team - not too shabby).

Two lists.

For the program in general:
Montana - Hens remember 49-48 fondly
Navy - had home and home before they got too big for their dress whites
Rotating through SoCon
Rotating through Southland
Rotating through Gateway

3 selfish requests - potential I-AA day trips for me
Youngstown State
Eastern Kentucky
Western Kentucky

Dayton and Butler would be easy day trips, but not worth home and homes IMO

For Northeastern

Rekindle the series with Harvard. They gave up an extra home game a year when our 4 year deal expired.

Yale Selfish one here as I'd love to see the Alma Mater play in the stadium I spent most of my Saturday afternoons as a kid.

Brown Closest I-AA school NU has never played.

Dartmouth Another local school we have never played.
You can also put the rest of the Ivy league in that list as well.

San Diego ROAD TRIP!

Since we have a home/home with Holy Cross, I took them off of my traditional list.

Montana: A series would be fun for the teams and the fans.
W&M: An old SoCon rival, and a recruiting rival.
Maine: Another trip into A-10 territory.
SC State: We've had some mighty entertaining battles

I didn't know you guys had a tough time scheduling. I would assume adding NoCo helps a bit. I'd say to do another series with NAU, but the last one wasn't as exciting as I hoped.

Our fairly isolated location, and the lack of I-AA teams anywhere near contribute to the scheduling problems. Adding UNC does help, but still gives us three OOC games to fill.

And yes, I was disapointed in the UNI-NAU series outcomes as well.

It's "Montanans", and Montana IS God's country son. Don't you forget it, or we'll make you give that damned trophy back. :p

My top most wanted, starting with the most wanted...

1. Montana - hands down number 1. This match just doesn't happen enough. I was really frustrated we didn't get to meet in the second round of the '04 and '05 playoff even though we were right next to each other. I'm sure most GSU fans have UM at or near the top of their list.

2. New Hampshire - payback for '04 first round playoff. Didn't realize how big that game was until it was too late.

3. Georgia That would make for a very interesting atmosphere. Probably won't happen unless we become a IA power some day.

4. Youngstown State Another matchup between two of the top programs in IAA.

There are plenty of others, but these are the top 4.

1) App St. --> Developing into a powerful program for years to come. Got to Carolina to visit my sister but didn't see Boone. Love to see another I-AA venue with over 23k!!

2) Delaware --> History and another great venue with over 20k. Maybe I could sit next to CM and MR. Chicken

3) Southern --> Great program and fan support. The photos of the tailgating are enough to make me want to spend a few hours stuffing my face. Oh yea, the bands...

4) Furman --> Want to see that campus. Supposed to be on of the nicest in the nation. Rematch of 2001..

5) NDSU --> rematch of the upset and would be fun to experience the Fargo Dome...

Almost came back to win in 1998? How is being down by 19 with a minute left almost winning? Get over the "gave it away on turnovers" whining....those were TAKEAWAYS by UMass. GS gave up 250 yds. on the ground to Shipp and 55 points. Man up! The better team won in 1998 (UMass) and 1999 (GS).

Florida A&M - Not only would it be a rematch of the inaugural I-AA Championship Game (won 35-28 by the Rattlers in 1978), it would also feature two of the three I-AA marching bands that have been awarded the Sudler Trophy (JMU is the other, and we already play them in-conference, of course).

The Citadel - My father's school.

Harvard - In-state, Ivy, etc. etc.

Georgia Southern - Nostalgia for '98 and '99. Played them in Chattanooga, played them in Statesboro, would like to play them in Amherst.

The Harvard Elis? Or the Yale Crimson?? :p

2. Northeastern to add some spice to the Beanpot!

Montana- the Fargodome would be packed for certain
Grambling State- the team NDSU beat to win the first of eight national championships
