One of the young players that has opened eyes early on is wide receiver Charles Hawkins. The Southern University product is one of the fastest players on the roster and has made plays in the open field with his jitterbug running style. Hawkins, who played at St. Augustine High School, is also getting a look on punt and kickoff returns. Hawkins signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a college free agent and spent time on the Detroit Lions' practice squad last season before joining the Saints late last year.

It's been a long time since New Orleans Saints wide receiver Charles Hawkins returned a punt for a touchdown.
In fact, it's been since October 5, 2007.
Hawkins was a senior for St. Augustine when he returned two punts for touchdowns - one for 77 yards and another for 47 yards in a 36-0 rout of Easton. It earned him Times-Picayune Orleans Parish Athlete of the Week honors
The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Hawkins went on to play four seasons at Southern where he only returned 15 punts for a total of 81 yards, although he did have one kickoff return for a score.
