Eastern Illinois football will open the season at Minnesota on Thursday, August 28 with the game airing on the Big Ten Network with a 6 p.m. (Central) start. It will be the opener for new EIU head coach Kim Dameron as the Panthers are coming off a 12-2 season in which they were ranked No. 4 in the final FCS polls after advancing to the FCS playoff quarterfinal round. EIU returns 14 starters from last year's team.
