From Ralph's Wofford Trivia:
Oct. 24, 1970: Wofford tied a school record with its 16th straight win, a 35-13 decision over defending Southern Conference champion Davidson. The Wildcats featured a tremendous passing attack in quarterback Mark Thompson and receiver Mike Mikolayunas but the Terrier defense held Davidson to 10 completions and 96 passing yards. David Currie rushed for 110 yards and Clifford Boyd added 107 yards on the ground.
It's a shame Davidson wimped out on football, although by the late 70's their teams were pretty sucktacular.
The 1970 Wofford team played for the NAIA championship, playing two home playoff games at Sirrine Stadium in Greenville (the old home of the horsey people). We lost in the finals and didn't win another playoff game at any level until 2003.
