This is great news. One of the weaknesses of the Bearkats defense in the past was lack of size in the defensive backfield.

Will that Baylor kid be a DB? In high school he was, but he was also rated the fourth-best wide receiver in Texas by Lone Star Recruiting... He played LB at Baylor... I'm sure Keeler will have no trouble finding the best fit for him.

He didn't really play at the LB position, he played nickelback which is considered a secondary position. They usually cover the slot receiver or rush from the outside. We'll need him for the pass happy offenses if he stays at NB. He may be moved to DB or LB though.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with the DBs. We also got Trenier Orr CB 5-11 177 Winter Garden, Fla. / Ocoee H.S. Rivals 3-star from the wrong spelling Bearcats of Cincinnati. It is nice to see some depth for a change in the secondary.

Exactly why I was wondering where KG may play. I wouldn't be surprised if he was at WR before the EWU game. He started at Baylor as one, can't blame BU for moving KG to defense, they have the best WRs in the country.

If he can actually catch the ball then by all means move him. STUPID amount of drops last year.

You're right, Baylor is WR U. Probably why he was moved to D in the first place.

If he is not a full time player on defense, I imagine Keeler would consider making him a two-way player (if he can catch the ball!).

How are the offensive and defensive lines looking? Sam Houston gets pushed around if they can't hold their own on the line of scrimmage.

The O line will be back. We only had one senior last year. Most were freshman and sophomores.

Our D Line should be better now that DL Lorance will be back. He was our best player on D last year and we lost him early in the season. He was granted a medical redshirt. DE Adebo & Latu had a great freshman campaigns, especially at the end of the season, combining for 7 sacks & 66 tackles. They will be beast next year. We lost Weaver and Brown but IMO we will be better on the D line this year. Besides those mentioned we were very young on the D line but they showed a lot of promise. This isn't considering Keeler additions either. As long as "co" DC Collins stays the **** out the way, we should be stout.

IMO our weakest positions are LB and QB. They're not bad or anything, just inexperienced.

We're good at RB. People outside of Huntsville have no idea how good Keyshawn Hill is(536 yrds 6.6 avg 8 tds last year). Very good north and south runner. Sophomore Hicks is more like Flanders. He looked good his freshman year.

Besides Bell, Flanders, Torrence & Sincere, we were pretty young on offense. Many outsiders don't realize this.

Of course everything depends on Keeler and staff. We really don't know what to expect from them.

No talks about getting a solid JUCO or FBS transfer? Sam Houston could be a national contender again with a good QB. I wasn't a huge fan of Bell but he served Sam Houston well.

The only time we find out about transfers is when their previous school or local news announces it.

Brian Bell, the most successful quarterback in school history yet half our fan base wanted him benched. Odd football career in retrospect. Good kid though and extremely tough.

You could probably blame NDSU for some of that. For the limited amount of times I saw him(only once in person)- He looked undersized and some times got rattled easily. I really thought he could use another 20lbs of muscle.

You hit the nail on the head. When things went wrong, he tended to crumble. One pic 6 turned into two pics and then it would snowball from there.

You witnessed some of that

Here's another good example. Totally pissed the Baylor game away.

Only 20? LOL. Every year you would expect him to bulk up a little bit but it never happened. I don't know why because we had a great strength coach. I think he's kinda like me, just a scrawny bastard.

If Keeler wasn't happy with the talent we have at QB, I think a transfer would be here already. I think JJ will be the man if he is healthy. People forget how well he was recruited (Baylor, Oregon)

I honestly think JJ will prevail in the end. He had some bright spots last year even though he was thrown into terrible situations. The kids got talent, no doubt.

Honestly, after watching Cole Martin's Junior highlights. I think he has a good shot as a true freshman to take the reins.

I don't think he had a change of heart, he was looking for a scholarship.
I think we are very limited on who we can bring in, so he went elsewhere.

Hendome is in silent running gear.

UD doesn't want any fans, parents, politicians...well, anyone outside of the BOT gates...to know anything about anything. Shut up, read our announcements (sometimes provided to the mindless masses with a side of meatballs), and get out of the way. Oh, and drop your donation in the box.

A lot of Hen fans are rooting for SHSU to do well. Anyone who is a true Hen fan would want anyone associated with the school to do well.

It would be awesome to meet SHSU in the playoffs this year.

Sadly, too many people are already making excuses for the Hens. Coaches aren't expected to be able to win these days unless everything is in their favor. Plenty of soccer moms disguised as Hen fans these days.

My daughter was a cheerleader for Cypress Ranch High School so I saw Martin play quite a bit. He would have had a stellar senior season if he would have had some receivers that could catch the ball, but the offense was also a very ball control offense. Martin didnt get much flair his junior year because of the RB Keith Ford(who signed with Oklahoma). I think he is the sleeper in this equation. I think with Fritz gone, Roderique chances will be limited because of the relationship his family has with Fritz. I honestly look for Roderique to be gone.

Jared Johnson should be the favorite here. This guy is an unbelievable athletic QB. He just needs the reps. Highly recruited QB out of high school.
