Is it just me, or did other people think that his kick was impressive? The holder told him to just have fun, and fun he had, all right!

Saw the clip last night. I think they could've back him up two yards and if he had kicked it the same, he would've got it. Off of memory, isn't the NFL record 63?

The record is 63, set by a Saints kicker (name escapes me, I think Dempsey?) and matched by Jason Elam (Broncos) in the late 90s. I've seen Elam's kick, and it would have been good from nearly 67 yds, he absolutely crushed it. Bryant's could have broken the record too, I think

Yes, it was Tom Dempsey (ironically an Eagle for a number of years!). As an Eagle fan it was a shocker. Never thought he would make it. Bryants kick would have been good from about 65 yards - it cleared by about 3 or 4 yards.

I hated it...but it was a great kick...

I wonder if it had counted for something (that is, no one thought he would make it so it was a no pressure kick) like a 45 yarder whether it would have been the same result.

A damn fine kick.
Most impressive in my book.
Dempsey was physically aided with his foot.
Elam was in Mile High.
Given the choice among the three, I choose Bryant's.

Dempsey was physically aided??? He had no right hand a no toes on his foot. Elam was aided by kicking the ball in the Rockies. Bryant's wasn't 63 yds. Given the choice I'll take the guy trying to kick a ball with half a foot.

Yeah, I was watching the game. Since Cinci's Shayne Graham tried to hit one last week and because Bryant's career long was 50 yards, I was like, this could be ugly (like Graham's attempt). But then he absolutely crushed it. Great kick.

Bryant's kick would have been good from 67 yards easy. It almost hit the mascot in the head and he was standing at the back wall in the endzone.

Yes, kicking with what was basically a club is in my mind easier than kicking with a foot with toes. So I think he was physically aided by having half a foot.

Bryant's kick was amazing (sucked really) but I'm not sure what kick some of you guys were watching. It may have been good from 64 at the most. It doesn't matter how high it is when it clears the crossbar, it's how far past. Two yards MAX, maybe one.

How far past at 10 feet above the ground. It was impressive since it won a game (Elam's was to run up the score before halftime). However, Dempsey's was the most impressive because he pioneered long field goals. His also won a game. If Dempsey's half a foot aided his kicking, then wouldn't a soccer shoe aid Bryant's kicking? Then Elam would be the only legit kicker since he made his barefoot.
No matter how you slice it, all 3 kicks were impressive!

You guys are nuts, would have been good from more than 64.

In college when you used to be able to use the black tee, Georgia's Kevin Butler missed a 71 yarder WIDE RIGHT...Long enough though!

I, in college, once kicked a 51 yarder in a FG contest at Hancock Stadium...that was, ohhhh, 12 years ago

Watch the video again and pause it in the replay from behind the goal. It is only a yard past the upright when it's level with it. Imagine a yardstick. Two yards further back and it doink the crossbar.

Janikowski missed a 71-yarder wide left in HS; Nick Setta had a 72-yarder doink the crossbar in HS.

Seriously though, that's pretty damn good, bfpu. I'll bet my high school has never had one that long.
Of course, I was home-schooled. j/k! :D
